symmastia sad and gutted
i went to see my surgon today and he confermed my worst thoughts,
i do have symmastia,
i now have a few options,
either wait a few months and buy some bras like playtex or sports bras where the seperate my breasts and try and get it down that way, rather than ones that push them together,
or live with it and love my breasts they way they are,
or have corrective surgery where he will take the implants out and stitch down my musscle and skin inbetween my breasts with perminant stitches and put the implants straight back in,
he said the implants were to big for my frame as i have a small chest and a large implant they try and meet in the middle,
im so upset and gutted, and just think why me, i cant look at anyone elses breasts on here as it makes me more upset and now i feel admormal,
ive no idea where to find these bra to try, as i cant wear underwire as it digs in my sternum,
what do you girls think?

You say he said "the implants were to big for my frame as i have a small chest and a large implant they try and meet in the middle",
Did he not say that BEFORE surgery?

Re: symmastia sad and gutted
he said we are all different, some people have the same frame as me with alot bigger implant, it depends on your skin and mussle in the middle, mine was weak and didint stop them coming together,
some of them photos are very bad that a searched, mine arnt as bad as alot of them,
ive tried to find some playtex or cross over bras but cant find any,
im 32ff, ive searched the net with no luck so far,

i would try the bra option first if he thinks that would work but if you need surgery to correct it would you be willing to do that

Re: symmastia sad and gutted
Oh sweetheart, I did suspect as much which was why I was urging you to see your surgeon but didn't want to say in your other thread because when I heard the word from my PS, the first thing I did was google and it frightened the pants off me!...
From what you say you only have mild symmastia, like my surgeon suggested I 'may' have post op due to my skin being so tight across my chest, I did have a little, but was lucky, as my surgeon said, it did relax and I'm fine now.
Have you looked at 'thong bras' hun... take a look and see what you think , there's also some info on the site about the corrective surgery, it's worth researching before you make any final decisions sweetness. xx

Re: symmastia sad and gutted
Maybe worth considering asking your PS for future reference about whether or not there would be a cost involved xx Even if you don't feel like it right now it might be worth getting something in writing now hun in case you feel different in a few months xx
Really hope you can find a bra that helps xx

Sorry to hear your bad news chick, I'd definitely try the bra first and then if it doesn't work take further steps. I know its hard but try not to worry too much, there's always a solution to make things better

the thong bra looks like it might be worth a try hun. and why not find out what would be involved in the corrective surgery just so you have all the information.

Re: symmastia sad and gutted
i was looking at them thong bras, i think you wear them under your normal bras, im still trying to find a playtex one that will seperate mine without any underwire,
when i push down on my sternum i can feel the implants push to the side, they have no where else to go apart from meeting together in the middle,
the thong ones dont look very comfy, any pressure there does get very painful during the day,
i do have mine mild, if it stays like that i can live with it, but if it does get as big as the ladys in some of them photos then i will have no option but to have a re-op,

Bublelady, if you're looking for the playtex bra that 'lifts and seperates' then it's the 'cross your heart' bra you'll be looking for hun. xx
Re: symmastia sad and gutted
i think its the playtex one, i want one that seperates but not lifts, as surgon said if they drop a bit more it may help weight them down and pull them apart,
i cant win can i!!

i'd go for the thong bra hun, it's expensive but could well save you a further surgery.

Re: symmastia sad and gutted
I was going to suggest the thong bra too but couldn't remember what it was called till reading what cookie said.
It might be uncomfortable to start with, but I think it's considered the best bra for helping with symmastia because it obviously separates the breasts so gives the middle bit a chance to heal.
Good luck, and big hugs xxx

Re: symmastia sad and gutted
Oh darling, really feeling for you - you will get there. Don't lose heart, if it's a re-op you need then so be it, you've been delayed and therefore disappointed with your surgery date before, then got them finally for this to happen, you are strong, You will deal with it. Maybe if yuo had a re-op (if) then the smaller implants and the fact they would be secure as your skin and muscle would be sutured down would mean less pain. Maybe the discomfort you had was from way too big implants and them pushing away your chest wall soft tissue?
I don't want to ''tell you what to do'' but if I was having the conversation with you and not typing it for you to later read, you would know that isn't my intention! So here goes - what are the stats, ie what did your surgeon say about the chances of the symmastia healing itself?
Easy for him to say try a ''special bra'' as he isn't the one in limbo. Righto, that's all for now!!
Like I said, no pressure or offence meant with the above and I could write more but you are living it not me and I want you to feel better NOT worse!!
Sweetheart, sending you big hugs and special June Buddies love xxxx

Re: symmastia sad and gutted
kayla i dont mind at all what you put,
he cant say weither it will work or not, it does for some it doesnt for others, everyone is different,
all i can do for now is try, if in a few months time its alot worse or i cant live with it i will no choice but to re-op but i want that to be my last choice, its just dramatic what they have to do to fix it and i think my boby has gone through enough as it is,
i cant change to a smaller implant as my skin is now stretched and if i went smaller i would have loose skin,
im trying to keep possistive about all this and hope it goes down by itself, but in the back of my mind im having regrets of having the ba, maybe when things were called off at the last minute first time around it was trying to tell me something, but i went back and had it done, now this!!,
maybe i should of just left my body alone,
