Hey girls!
Does anyone know if you have to take out your hair extensions (I've got micro loop ones) or piercings for surgery? I got my lip pierced like a week ago and I don't want to risk it healing up if I have to take it out for surgery :( xxx

Do you think it'd be okay if I got plastic retainers instead? I don't know if it's the fact that they're metal atm that's the issue or that it's a risk of infection as it's an open wound :/ xxx

Im pretty sure its all out. I was allowed my wedding ring if I taped it up, but I just took it off. Always ring to double check, but Im 99% they wont let you keep a lip ring in incase they need to intubate (sp). They need your mouth and airways clear. Extentions Im not sure on, again, double check with the clinic.

On my forms I had from my hospital it said all piercings have to be removed, and hair extensions and nail extensions. Even said that any hair bobble had to be not metal!. x

Mine was... Hair up in a bobble if it's long and all piercings out. Including my ears nose belly and tongue. If something goes wrong and they need to do anything some things they use heat up metal so they need to know if you have anything metal on you including in your bones teeth etc...
Your only under for an hr plus a bit of recovery. I put all mine back in after 2hrs. You will be fine don't worry. Or. Wear a plastic one. But I guess they would be scared incase it fell out when your under and choke. Xxx

yeah you could change all the piercings to plastic both in Rosshall and Bridgewater when I was in, but the lip one will be incase they rip it out as lets face it if they done that no matter which one of it was we would be pretty annoyed

def call and ask and then your prepared

I was under an hour and a half both times for surgery then up to an hour comin round then I put my piercings in xx

Crap :/ I'll phone up tomorrow and ask - Should've thought about not being allowed facial piercings before I got mine done I suppose :( I'm just getting the implants, no uplift or anything so hopefully I'll be out of surgery before they close up xxx

My advice was ALL OFF, including nail varnish! Definitely check. The piercing is a MUST to come out, sorry hun, prob not what you wanna hear. They even made sure my hair tie has no metal in.

I was on my period and normally wear tampons but obviously had to wear a sanitary towel and large paper knickers for op.
I told my fiancé that when I came back to room he was to put my knickers and a tampon on me.

I can't remember doing it but apparently I took the tampon off him shoved it in passed him back the applicator (Yuk) and then lifted my legs for the knickers, asked what the time was, then Passed out again!!
I don't remember any of this lol x

Hey,

Not sure if anyone has answered your question... I had micro ring extensions and they had to come out... Same as my piercings! Was gutted as i just had them redone but its worth just removing them rather than risk your op being cancelled :)
