Anyone with history of eating disorder? GP letters
So I saw the nurse today for my pre-op. All went well except one thing and I am so annoyed with myself for putting it down on my initial consultation form!
I have history of bulimia. It was treated 10 years ago for it but I don't classify myself as a sufferer for many many years.
Anyway I have to go and see my GP now for getting a letter to prove that I am not sufferer anymore and that I am not mentally ill. I had some talking therapies last year to help me cope with the final year at university, which I found extremely stressful but I was on no medication.
Has anyone of you had to have letters from GP before BA and has anyones op been cancelled because of delays or because they are not happy with your past history??
I'm seeing GP next Tuesday.
Also I have already booked and paid for my BA for 16 Feb and I hope I get this all cleared before that

hiya
yip me
but I do still have problems with my body and the way I look some days but not as much as I used too, I also think that this is one of the reasons I dont love my boobs and actually think that I might never love them
I got a letter from my GP who i am close with stating that he didnt think that having the BA would have any affect up nor down on how I feel and if it did he would be there for support
good luck xx

Oh no , You will be fine, best wishes with it. I have no history eating wise... but I did pop on my form that I had PND after my first son, due to excessive weight gain and changes in my body! I was nervous putting it on there but believe it's best to be honest as otherwise it can come back and bite us in the bum!
You will be fine hun, think positive xx

It's always best to be honest Hun and it's just to cover themselves also as I remeber there being a lady on here who had a ba yet had body dysmophia hadn't said she was a sufferer from what I remember and she ended up really unhappy .
A ba is not only a physical. Change it's a mental one too. And as long as no other issues surround it, as cit should be understood that a ba doesn't solve other issues such as eating disorders. X

Re: Anyone with history of eating disorder? GP letters
Thanks ladies.
I know my history of eating disorder has nothing to do with my boobs. It was something that started when I was in ballet school in my teens and I was repeatedly told by my teachers that we were all fat and must not eat bread and fatty foods etc (it wasn't in this country I must add!) so I became very guilty about eating and ended up making myself sick. But I haven't had any issues regarding food for so many years now. I enjoy eating and I'm not calorie obsessed and have healthy body weight with BMI 23.
I want boobs to look womanly and more confident in a bikini I will update you on how it goes next week with GP. She is usually very nice but I don't know how she feels about cosmetic surgery as I haven't discussed it with her…
After all in my job I have to make decisions about other peoples health every day and if I wasn't deemed fit - I wouldn't be able to practice. Saying that- I don't know much about cosmetic industry and how things work there, hence I was was quite surprised that it has become an issue. Anyway I'm sure you are right that they are trying to cover their backsides xx

I hope they will settle as expected. I'm sorry to hear you've had to have a reop. I guess it's always as possibility for everyone who has a BA.
I feel so much better than I did after the pre-op with the nurse this morning. I can't see any reason why my history of eating disorder should stop me having my boobies done.
They took pre-op pictures today too- gosh I look flat like a boy … Can't wait to have some womanly curves like yours xx
