Eating Empty Eating

Post by Jasmine Sharpe 8th March 2013, 6:03 pm

Did anyone else find it hard to keep food down for the first few days? After every time I've ate I've felt so sick! I hadn't been sick until just now I ate dinner and literally ran up to the bathroom and chucked it all up straight away :( is this normal? I feel so horrible can have the lights on either as that makes me feel sick xxx

It should ease off soon, maybe the GA, painkillers or antibiotics you are on at the moment. Best thing to do is drink lots of water to flush out the GA, but as you feels sick I would take little sips of water but often. If you feel like you can eat maybe try something plain so as not to upset your stomach, so dry toast or crackers and just eat a little and often rather than try to fill your tummy with a big meal. It will pass, but it can happen after the GA

Oh and also when you do take the painkillers of antibiotics try to take them with food, so just eat a biscuit or crackers something to line your stomach as the pills can be quite strong, which is also what could be upsetting your stomach.

Not sure what the lights thing is, but feeling/being sick is from the GA x

As the girls say it can take a while for the ga to come outta your system but it's more Likey the painkillers and anti bs
What painkillers are you taking? Codeine makes me sick and with my 2nd ba they gave me 500mg of Cephalxin which I was very sick on , phone the clinic babe and explain they may say stop the anti bs or very strong painkillers if you can manage on paracetamol great lots of water to flush everything through.

And little and often eating just little bits of dry stuff. Xxx

I am taking 500g co codamol which could be too strong as I have to take 2 at a time and then I'm also taking flucloxacillin antibiotics but just one a time. I'm not going to eat again this evening and I'm meant to take my last ones at 8pm. I'll ring my nurse in the morning and see what she says :)
They told me to take them on an empty stomach so this is what I've been doing.
I feel so much better when I'm up moving around compared to when I'm just sitting down doing nothing but I'm scared ill over do it? xx

Sounds like the coda mol which is making you sick Hun. Last thing you want to do is keep being sick. Ifnyoubcan manage on paracetamol then great and ice packs. Yes getting up and about is good just little short walks round the house nothing too much will actaully help your recovery x maybe just cut down to one coda mol. If you ant manage without? X

It'll just be because of the swelling that it feels tight Hun. Try ice packs sweet for pain relief and reduce the swelling x

I rang the hospital told them I was being sick and they told me to stop taking the co-codimal but carry on with the anti bioethics they said to just take pain killers instead not ibuprofen though as that can delay recovery so ill have to pop out to get some pain killers later!
Just ate some breakfast and am not feeling sick yet which is good!! :) xxx
