I was wondering how long it is before you can think about driving?iv got an automatic, which makes it easier.i was just thinking of short journeys, like going to get the kids from school, which is a 2 min drive, but a 20 minute walk.my ex has them this week anyway, but I would've liked to may e go & collect them one day,so they could come back to mine for a wee while.im day 3 post op,but can move my arms fine,& not feeling any pain, just a little stiffness where incisions are,but I don't know how it would work with seatbelt going over boobs.

2 weeks is ideal, you could probably manage your automatic after 1 week. Definitely too soon at the moment x

I'm not sure a out driving as luckily I didn't need to drive until I was ready....

I've somewhere that you may not be covered by your insurance for a certain amount of time after an op? Maybe someone can clear that up...

From being on this forum I have seen ladies start to drive at different times but I would personally think 3 days might be a big early but if you feel ok...? I'm not sure to be honest :) I'm sure other ladies will be along soon to give you advice :) xx

If you are unable to safely execute an emergancy stop, your car insurance is void (or something like that), plus theres anaesthetic rules, but I think thats 48hrs. I actually left it 3wks, and even then I still strugged. Had to go back to proper 10&2 steering! But everyones different. 1-2 weeks is normal, and automatics are easier.

Oooo sweetie, at 3 days post-op you really shouldn't be any where near a car hun... You may still be suffering some of the effects of the and although you say you move your arms and you feel fine as Charlii says, could you imagine doing an emergency stop right now? There's just no way babe. You would actually be putting your children in danger putting them in that car right now with you behind the wheel... Sorry if that sounds harsh babe but that's the reality of things. If I were you I would arrange to have someone take and bring your children home from school this week. You should be fine next week, but definitely not yet hun. Xx

Hey

As you all know my BA is next monday - I have just phoned my insurance company just to enquire if nedd to notify them of it.

They said no I didn't plus the info the girl gave me was if you need to notify DVLA of a condition then you need to notify the insurance other than that no need to.

I drove about 5 days post op, in an automatic but to be honest I only did because I had to, and I didn't go very far.

If you don't need to, I wouldn't x
