Driving after BA
Hi all,
Sorry to keep posting but my brain is in question mode! ha ha
With having overs how long would it be until I can drive, I think I was advised a week? but I am not 100% sure?
Anyone got any opinions/advice?
xx

Re: Driving after BA
Its actually illegal to drive until you can safely and securely conduct an emergency stop and I have overs and there was no way at one week post-op I could drive and I felt really good too. I think I was 2 weeks post-op when I got back behind the wheel.
You should also check your insurance too as this could be effected after you having major surgery, so they may have a time frame set on when you can return to the road after surgery also. xx

Re: Driving after BA
I tried to move my automatic car out of the way on my drive so my dad could park there, It was not a good idea, but I felt fine. I managed a short distance in an automatic at one week. I moved my mothers manual car off the drive to get my car off, it was not a pleasent experince changing into reverse. The seatbelt rubbed my poor sore boobs. It was a bit more comfortable at two weeks but them dam seatbelt still rubbed my cleavage for weeks.
Re: Driving after BA
Thank you both, will have a look on my insurance good idea. Oh yes didn't think about the seatbelt good thinking. Thank you :smiler: xx

I had overs (and uplift) and it was nearly 3 weeks until I felt i was in control of a car and felt my boobs could handle the movement! x

Re: Driving after BA
I was driving after only 4 or 5 days, I found it ok but I do drive an automatic so I expect it would take longer to drive manual. I checked with my insurance beforehand aswell, that's very important. Just don't rush yourself behind the wheel again before you feel ready. x

Re: Driving after BA
Long distance driving ladies? Ive told my boss about my op, she's going to do actual assessment when I come back to work (has anyone else had that?)
My job is field based, and I can drive 4 hours at a time with it.
How long was it before any of you drive long-distance?
(I had thought I'd be back on one place by now but had my contract extending this week!?)

Re: Driving after BA
Once you're fit enough to be back behind the wheel, you're fine to drive for as long as you feel comfortable, I'd maybe spend a weekend just seeing how you go before agreeing to get back to driving in work again seeing as you're out on the road a lot. I'd presume most of your driving would be motorway driving anyway though, so not that much handling of the gears/reverse (4th/5th gear and reverse hurt most). So when you feel able, check your insurance and that you feel safe enough to conduct an emergency stop and then you should really be good to go lovely. xx
