Post by Jenidj 4th September 2013, 7:37 pm

So here goes

BA being done next Tuesday 11/9/13 couple of wee questions pre - op :) G20 have some questions i am hoping u lovely ladies can help with so here goes

1. Currently a 36B/C originally chose 370 anatomicals under dual plane insertion but when at my pre op last night tried what i originally felt was too big (next size up) and now doubting original choice problem being i have started running and really enjoying it and i dont want to end up too big that it hinders my running ive lost almost 4st and the running is keeping that weight off so fear if i stop will put all the weight back on so i have to get a size which won't interfere with that do any of u run ? If so what size did u get and how do u cope

2. Local/sedation NOT general anyone had theres done this way i dont do general so it is the only option for me but would have liked accounts from people who have had this to give me an idea what to expect

3. Resuming normal activities - i know with dual plane there is a longer recovery due to implant being half inserted into the muscle but when can i start exercise again ie gentle walk etc you will gather my biggest fear is not the knife but the fear of gaining all the weight againcouple of wee questions pre - op :) G34

4. Silicone gel - the nurse spoke of a gel which u apply from about 3 weeks to the scars to help reduce scarring etc i will be taking arnica pre op anyway but wondered is this stuff worth the £40 ?? Or just another gimmick

5. PAIN - again with dual plane i understand from the nurse that 'some people complain f a tightness in their chest' like they cannot breath you can breath just feels like you cant this can last overnight - can anyone with unders or partials tell me what pain they felt i am being sent hom with tramadol, co codamol and diclofenac so will be doped up but if i can help it would like to avoid tramadol purely as i have a 13month old who will want to see mummy and have a wee kiss and i doubt with tramadol i could say my name never mind cuddle my boy :(

Think thats about it no doubt will think of more things but those are at the top of my 'please can u help' list

Lol

Thanks in advance

Hi Jen and welcome!

1. Sizing is most ladies major issue re. Ba and deciding on the perfect size for them. Maybe have another consulation to try on the other sizes and speak to your ps re. The running , taking pictures of your boobie idols is the best way for them to see what you're hoping to achieve .

2. Yes there are ladies who have had twilight sedation. If you tap it in to the search bar it will come up with previous threads and some surgery stories of the ladies tha have had it.

3. 6weeks is the norm for resuming excerise, and even hoovering.
You can gentle walk as soon as you feel up to it after your ba in fact it will help your recovery, but I mean gentle walks round the garden, maybe along the road and back with no holding anything heavy.
You wo t gain the weight back Hun at all don't even think about that. 6 weeks focusing on recovery is a very small price to pay for fabulous boobs!

4. Me personally wouldn't worry about £40 gels, I didn't use a thing and my scars are so neat and with my 1st faded to nothing. A Lot of ladies use bio oil after 6/12 weeks which can help. So depending on how you feel about your scars I wouldn't bother!

5. Pain it's more discomfort a tight heavy feeling like an e
Ephang sitting on your chest or having done an almighty chest workout . The 1st week Is the worst and after that most ladies turn a corner. I survived on diclofenic and paracetamol for about a week as codeine makes me sick as does Tremadol.
Strong painkillers can make you feel quite Ill but totally depends on how your coping with recovery so just play it by ear and take it as it comes.

We have a lovley lady 5stonedown who had an uplift and implants but had
Ist more than 5 stone and then had ba and was in the same concerns as you re. Weight etc.

Hopefully she'll be along to share her story x

Enjoy the forum Hun x

Hi jeni,
I was offered local/sedation the anaesthetist even tried to talk me into it just before I went down for surgery!  He explained that you would be very sleepy and probably not be aware of anything going on though he did say some people are. He said the recovery from sedation is kuch quicker than a ga. But I just wanted to be totally knocked out so had a ga. Your very brave going for sedation!

I was able to go for a short walk on day 2 and have gradually built up strength but you have to be careful not to overdo things!

As for the pain its not as bad as I expected, it is more tightness and discomfort.  I took codeine until 2 days post op then just took paracetamol.  The codeine made me sick and lightheaded. Im now 5 days post op and only had one dose of paracetamol this morning.

Im sure you cant wait for your day :-)

Hriya Jeni,

Sizing is a huge topic for pre BA ladies, for me personally I was totally guided by my surgeon - I love my fitness and I am very ribby and tall, so I didn't want super big boobs, we made the decision fairly quickly. I had 300cc tear-shaped unders.

I had been told that unders were more painful than overs, however if you have read other ladies stories on here you will realise that there is no "typical" BA. We all recover differently and have different pain thresholds. I went home the same day of my surgery, was off painkillers after 2 days and was given the all clear to exercise 2 weeks after my op. I was up and gently walking the day after my op, driving about day 4/5, started feeling normal at 2 weeks!

My surgeon only recommends paper tape on incisions unless there is a problem - you should do what "your" surgeon advises.

I am 5 weeks post op now - I started cycling at 2 weeks and have now started running the last couple of days. I don't think I will be happy doing any lifting for a while yet - I have been told by my surgeon at least 3 months.

Hope some of this helps, you don't have long to wait, there are lots of lovely knowledgeable ladies on here to help x

Hiya yeah I was offered sedation but after my spinal wearing off mid section with my youngest I need to be asleep lol

Pain wise I was unlucky and really struggled for a good 2 - 3  weeks

Excercisewise I work in a gym so I found it hard not too. I done lower body at around 4 weeks

I got cream for scars and total sunblock from my surgeon but haven't used any and my scars are great xx

I'm a runner Hunni, and fitness freak..... This was my main concern, not the G.A or anything like that. I have ran for many years and I love it..... I don't want anything to get in the way ( so to speak) however I have always had good sports bras, I will get a triaction extreme, apparently one of the best, they won't go nowhere.
I am a 34B (empty) I'm having 420cc which will take me to a DD,E. my surgeon says........
Like you I am worrying about my fitness, putting on weight etc.......... This scares the hell out of me...... But I want more shape, and my flat boobs is stopping me from that... So I'm hoping its win,win.....
I have told everyone no chocolate, fruit if they want to get me anything......... Yes I'm nuts.....
But I'm with you on this one!!!!!
We will just have to be careful, when running could end up with couple of black eyes!!!!!!!!

Hi to try to put you're mind at ease regarding the sedation I had it done I found I came round quicker from that than when I have had a ga in the past I went down about 11 and by 4 I was walking round to the carpark with my husband to go home by then I had my tea and toast last time I had a ga I was unable to eat till the next day
To be honest if it's a option with any future  operations I have I would pick sedation over ga

This isn't a question we can answer for you unfortunately babe.

On some women 370s may be HUGE! On others they may be very modest, our anatomies are what will determine the final result from the size of the implant chosen and as we're all different we will have very different results from our BAs. If you think this is more than just the pre-op jitters babe, when sizes is something MANY women have a little panic over then you really need to be discussing this further with your surgeon hun.

2. Local/sedation NOT general anyone had theres done this way i dont do general so it is the only option for me but would have liked accounts from people who have had this to give me an idea what to expect
I think you'll enjoy reading one our members experience of having twilight surgery [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] babe.

You can begin walking immediately after surgery if you feel up to it. But you MUST listen you your body and ALWAYS put your health first! I understand for those who have done amazingly well as you have in losing weight not wanting to regain and this can cause a bit of a panic post-op, but you have nothing to worry about hun. As long as you maintain healthy eating, no snacking and take walks when you feel up to it, starting with just gentle walks around the house and building yourself up to good long walks everyday, doing things this way and not overdoing things thinking about your weight, rather than your body being able to heal you'll do just fine. I never gained a pound after me BA s hun, because I was sensible and did what was required to 'help my body heal'

nurse spoke of a gel which u apply from about 3 weeks to the scars to help reduce scarring etc i will be taking arnica pre op anyway but wondered is this stuff worth the £40 ?? Or just another gimmick
Daylight robbery! Its not needed at all. I didnt use a single thing on my first scars and they healed perfectly! If you want something to use, then simple bio-oil is cheap and purposefully made for scars, that's all you need babe.

5. PAIN - again with dual plane i understand from the nurse that 'some people complain f a tightness in their chest' like they cannot breath you can breath just feels like you cant this can last overnight - can anyone with unders or partials tell me what pain they felt i am being sent hom with tramadol, co codamol and diclofenac so will be doped up but if i can help it would like to avoid tramadol purely as i have a 13month old who will want to see mummy and have a wee kiss and i doubt with tramadol i could say my name never mind cuddle my boy :(
You can cuddle you baby. There nothing at all stopping you doing that. You won't however be able to lift the baby for about 2 weeks though so will need to ensure you have some to care for the baby 24/7 for this period hun. You will not be fit enough for the baby's saftey and your own to be left alone with a baby.

You'll be able to cuddle by sitting on the sofa with a pillow protecting your boobs and have someone hand the baby to you whilst your sat down so the baby can fall asleep in your arms. You can get down on the floor and play with the baby. Contact with your baby is very important and we as mothers all know that we just couldn't cope without that, so worry not hun, you can have lots of contact with the baby, but you won't be able to lift or carry for 2 weeks.[/quote]
