Just a couple of questions...
Hi
Ive got 26 days to go till my BA... eeeeekkkk, Im sooo excited!!!, Ive got loads of things running thru my head constantly I feel like Im going to go mad, Im thinking about my BA nearly enough all day everyday lol. Anyway I have got a couple of things to ask
I realise everyone is different but if any one can give appox sizes, that would be great x
1. How long before I can lift my arms above my head i.e putting a normal top on?
2. I am currently a 34a and I am having 295cc anatomical unders approx what size support bra should I buy.
3. I have a 17 month old little boy, how long do you think it will be before I can lift him out of his cot.
and finally... this sounds really stupid but I have a really really bad phobia of needles, do you think they will provide magic cream or should I get it off my GP. (I had magic cream on repeat prescription through out all my pregnancies... really stupid when you think about it a needle (small sharp ***naughty word***) compared to giving birth (shocking, thats the only word I can come up with to describe labour pains lol)...
Thanks
claire

Re: Just a couple of questions...
hi claire, i dont know if someone has already answered youre questions yet or not but ill give you my experiences!
it was about 2 and a half weeks before i could lift my arms up properly, like tobrush my hair and put tops on etc.
i was a 36A pre op and had 300cc partial unders and i was told to buy 2 sizes bigger but i went for an extra band size more and another cup size to account for swelling a 38D and it was perfect!
it took quite a while before i could lift any weight again and i imagine with unders the recovery is longer. it took me roughly 6-8weeks to be able to start lifting some weight again. your body tells you if you can take it or not!!
good luck for the op take care

Re: Just a couple of questions...
Hi Clare I had my ba yesterday and could immediately lift my arms over my head. I brushed my hair put on my top no problem.
I was a 32b and had 385 unders. I wouldn't attempt to lift anything but feel I could if I had to. I too have a thing about needles on the hand but I didn't feel a thing. If it would put you at ease bring your cream.

Re: Just a couple of questions...
Hi hun
I had my BA 2 weeks ago and can lift my arms ok'ish' now. The first 10 days I couldnt take tops of myself...although I can now it is a little uncomfortable (I had unders)
I was 34a and had 375 and am now a D...I would guess a C / D sports bra would be ok but best double check with your PS.
I think it will be some time before you can lift your little one hun....my son is 2 and I dont intend on lifting him for some time (although I miss our piggy banks and flying games). Its best to wait until your PS says you are all ok to lift and listen to your body like Kristen said.
Sorry hun I dont know what magic cream is, never heard of it lol!!
Good luck with your BA hunni - not long to go now xx

Re: Just a couple of questions...
Claire, I am so excited for you!
I had 280 anatomical unders 5 months ago.
1 I could lift my arms a day or 2 after. Wasnt comfy but could change clothes and brush my hair ok.
2 I was 34A pre BA and I had 34D sports bra. I bought a couple and took one back that didnt fit. I now fit 32DD/E.
They should have emla cream in private hospital but just ring & ask so they have some available for you on the day.
3 My ps told me I could do anything i was comfy doing after a week.....except jogging or running. Not sure I could have lifted a small child tho! Prob a couple of weeks at least.
Good luck

Re: Just a couple of questions...
Hi Claire,
I had my BA 9 days ago and can now lift my arms above my head to shower, wash my hair, brush my hair and get my tops on. Even getting out of bed without the help of my husband is getting a little easier, although because I want to take it easy and not stress my armpits out (BA with unders), I still swing my legs over the side of the bed and just use my lower stomach muscles to pull myself off.
Like you, I was a small A (about a 34 A). I got 400 CC's silicone in both my L & R breasts. I just bought my first non-underwire bra the other day and am fitting into a 38C, although it's a little tight...might be venturing into the small D cups next :) It's fun to play around with new bra sizes and shop...but just remember, after your surgery, your breasts will be sitting high and you have to give them time to drop which means after the swelling goes away, they might lose some size, so don't set your heart on one bra size only.
I too have a baby - an 11 month old. I am still needing help to pick him up and it sucks because all he wants is me. That, I think, has been the hardest part for me as far as healing, the surgery and this entire process goes -- is not being able to hold my son for almost another 5-6 weeks or so...I guess it just comes with the territory, know what I mean? Just know that not being able to pick up your child will last forever. My PS told me that after 3 weeks of the BA, it would be ok to have someone set him in my lap and then going from a sitting position to a standing position would be ok. I just can't pick him up out of his crib or from him crawling around at my feet on the floor.
Good luck honey and keep us posted! We're all anxious to hear how it goes!
