Re: Driving after BA??
Hey Max, my paperwork says that I'm not to drive for 14 days after my op but I think this varies from surgeon to surgeon and person to person.
Also I think insurance companies have rules on how long you have to wait after having a GA :)

Re: Driving after BA??
I was told not to drive for one week. After my first BA I felt fine after the week and insurance was fine for me to drive too.
After my second surgery there was no way I could handle the wheel of a car after a week, let alone opening a door! So it was over 2 weeks when I felt able.
Legally if you arn't able to conduct an emergency stop you shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car so do take that into consideration also hun. Xx

I don't enjoy driving so will enjoy my break from it! Ill just see how I get on but don't fancy testing to see if I can manage an emergency stop!
If I'm right I think goldi already has driven and a idiot driver forced her to do an emergency stop xx

I think generally if you feel fit to drive the you can. Insurance companies leave it to the doctor signing you off

Thanks everyone. I think I'll wait another week to be safe. Seeing nurse on Thursday so I'll chat to her and phone my insurance too. We live in a quiet close so I could start with a few manouvres and stops.

Re: Driving after BA??
Hi hun,
Jen's right, I drove after 5 days. My surgeon said as long as I was able to conduct an emergency stop, I should be fine, but should avoid long journeys of more than an hour for a little while. The first time I ventured out, I was cut up at a roundabout by some idiot and had to do an emergency stop, so that kind of sealed the deal! I found changing gears a tad tricky at first but was fine apart from that. Let us know how it goes xx

I hate driving - i only passed about 4 months ago but i actually miss it, i think its only because i've been told not to do it!
