couple of questions....
Hi all, just wondering how long do i have to sleep propped up I forgot to ask the nurse at the check up?
also why are you told not to exercise at All, like if i am allowed to walk why cant do slow controlled squats etc which would cause no bounce, is it to do with raising the heart rate? my belly is finally starting to go but im still double the size i was lol xxx

Re: couple of questions....
I was allowed to sleep flat after my first check at 10days. And I think it's something to do with raising heart rate and risk of causing a bleed xx

Re: couple of questions....
I had to sleep propped up until my first check up. As for exercise it is to do with your healing. Gentle walking is good for you and keeps your circulation going. Increasing your heart rate through exercise could have an affect on your healing putting increased pressure on your internal wounds and your body (as you've just had major surgery). It's best to rest up and take it easy, you can exercise all you want after 6 weeks and your body will go back to normal pretty quickly. You may feel like a sumo wrestler but you will feel normal enough soon.
Re: couple of questions....
You can sleep with just a couple of pillows now Hun, no need for propped up , it just helps the swelling subside.
Excersise , gentle walking yes nothing else, the ga and pain killers really take it out of you and you don't realise until you start to push yourself and your body.
You don't really want to start raising your heart rate and over exerting your body so soon after an operation, your body's trying to recover and you need the energy, carbs and rest to help you recover , doing to much too quick will only set you back in recover sweet.
Take the time off to enjoy the rest and your bodynwillnthank you for it, then when it's time to get back into it then you'll have the drive and motivation. X

Re: couple of questions....
Feeling the same as you Rocky, my belly is getting bigged by the day and I know there's nothing i can do about it, we'll maybe not eat so much but I do love my food!! Lol. I'm just going to have to try and relax about it until the new year when all the Xmas eating and drinking is over, ill be a stone heavier but maybe look at it as a challenge!!! X

Re: couple of questions....
Hi rocky :0) hope you're healing well, sounds like you are if you're wanting to work out haha!
My surgeon said I can do light lower limb exercise after one week, light upper after three weeks but any vigorous exercise to be left till six weeks.
Squats use tummy muscles too, so maybe not best but maybe leg raises from a laying position or something like that. But should always go with what YOUR surgeon says, mine is very relaxed and says I can shower straight away as long as I face away from the shower and dry my dressings with a hair dryer! Also no bra etc, so each surgeon says different things lol

Re: couple of questions....
I'm so looking forward to going to bed tonight and maybe being a little bit comfortable lol!
Lisa, I could still pass for being pregnant at the min, for a brief moment in the morning its not as bad then it starts expanding lol i know i will have to just get over it, the bloat couldn't last that much longer and then as you say i could look at it like a goal if i do put weight on!! I didnt think it would bother me as soon, buuut wev finally got the boobies i suppose a little weight or bloat is a small price to pay. xx
Hey missfeb, yea i feel great now no pain and very little discomfort, just the mornings really but other than that no problems! how are you getting on now? awww im jealous my surgeon didnt mention doing anything lightly just i can go back to normal after 6 weeks! Its mad how much one surgeon can vary from another! xx
