I need a rant!!!!!!!!

So... had my Pre op consult today...
Everything was going fine, the nurse was lovely and really gave me loads of info, walked me through the whole process. THEN another nurse came into the room and she said 'oh hello, fancy seeing you here'... Its someone I know... and someone I don't like and definitely don't want knowing about my BA!
Basically my ex partner is the god father to her children. And the woman cannot keep anything secret. She is the gossip of the town (not a town I live in anymore) and I know she will be telling my ex that i'm having the op. I know there is patient confidentiality and all that but I don't think she will be able to keep it in. I used to know the woman very well when I was with my ex.
THEN... the nurse tells me that my surgeon will not be around to discharge me the day after surgery, (which I was fine with as I already knew this) and the nurse tells me that THAT WOMAN will be discharging me and doing my post op appointment!
Thing is, I don't want to put my BA off... and to be honest its not the end of the world if she will be looking after me, as at least I know her and know she is brilliant at what she does, but I just needed to vent about it all! and annoyed about her knowing my ex! If it was anyone else I wouldn't care lol he was an idiot!
So it has put a downer on a day that started off very good!

Other than that my pre op consult went really well haha!

Aww sorry ro hear Hun, thing is there IS a patient confidentiality and she CANNOT break it. Her job would been the line if she does.

It's up to you ,as you can request to see a different nurse, not sure if there will be another to discharge you but you can ask.

I wouldn't worry about her knowing about your op though sweetie , she can't break that confidentialty and if you're now spilt from your ex try not to let that spoil your ba.

You're right mrsball, i won't let it spoil my BA, its too much of an exciting time for me!
It was just something I would of preferred not to happen. the nurse said that there wasn't anyone else available to discharge me. She saw that i was unimpressed when i saw the woman haha!
At the end of the day, even if she does tell my ex, it's not the end of the world... ooh your ex girlfriend is getting brand new big boobies.... where is the down side to that? haha

Frankly for "sensitive" surgeries, I think the medical office should provide you with a list of all people involved before you come in, so that you can make sure you don't know anyone. I know there's patient confidentiality, but it's easiest thing in the world to break and hardest to prove. (although I'd say something to her that you're not messing around and you will report her if ANY of this gets back to ANYONE.)

On the up side, at least you say she's brilliant at what she does!

I think she wouldn't be stupid enough to risk her job in blabing to people but if she does, you can always get a complaint in writing to the clinic.

Yeah hopefully she won't be silly enough, but I have a day to think about it all and I'm much more relaxed about it. It's her job at the end of the day and she obviously see's loads of women getting it done, so I'm no different. and if she says anything I think the most she will say is that she has seen me and wont/cant go into detail :0)
