bio oil & arnica
hey everyone!
so i have my op 2 weeks on saturday i've bought some bio oil but should i start massaging it in now or is it for post-op? i suffer from slight keloid scarring so i'm worried about that.
also, i bought some arnica for swelling - does it actually work?
thanks in advance for any guidance!

Yeah rub it in now as it will help to keep your skin supple. Once you are post op wait for your surgeon to tell u its ok to start using it again. I used arnica pre op and am still using it now. I have bruised and have some swelling but who knows if it would have been worse (I usually bruise very easily!)

Re: bio oil & arnica
I have had a BA without using Arnica and had a surgery using it…there's no scientific evidence to prove it works, for me, it didn't make a bit of difference. I never bruised at all after my 1st surgery (never used arnica) and after my second and having used arnica, I bruised like a peach. So unless directly instructed to use it by your surgeon/clinic it's really up to you whether or not you feel you'd like too.
I'd save your Bio-oil for your scars lovely. It expensive stuff and moisturising your boobs will be just as good in keeping your skin nice and supple. I used Palmer cocoa butter, I find that the best I've used, when you get the all clear from your surgeon you can use the bio-oil on your scars then.
Did you mention to your surgeon you're slight prone to keloid scars?
It still may be possible if you're prone to them that no matter what you do they still may appear, but there are treatments to help their appearance. Have you ever heard of silicone scar sheets?
They help to flatten out a scar to give it a smother appearance. They are expensive but re-useable, so although the initial outlay be be a lot, overall the cost balances itself out over time.
I used Cica-Care silicone sheets. I got Boots to order them in special for me because they don't actually stock them. But if requested they'll get them for you.
Just an option for you to consider should you need to sweetie xx

Re: bio oil & arnica
thanks for the advice girls! i think i'll get palmers cocoa butter as well, i ordered bio oil off amazon for £10, but doesn't look like there's much in it so I'll be using it sparingly!
also, i take the following vitamin supplements daily:
- vitamin c
- calcium with vitamins d & k
- multivitamins
should i stop any of these or avoid certain meds coming up to surgery?
sorry about all the questions! it's just the clinic haven't sent out info yet (will be getting it next week) and it's now only 2 weeks to go!

Yes sweetie. You shouldn't take any vitamins supplements at all, so best to stop those 'I think ' 2 weeks before surgery. Xx
