Less than sympathetic boss
Hi ladies, i do not have a date booked but thought I'd pluck up the courage and tell my boss to expect me to have some time off later in the year due to having a BA. He told me that in my profession (I'm a lawyer), no-one will take me seriously and 'lawyers don't have boob jobs'! It's really playing on my mind and I'm worried what will happen when it comes to it, shall I just not tell him/ anyone at work, is it easily concealable?
Any advice is much appreciated?

Re: Less than sympathetic boss
Omg, I can't believe your boss said that to you!!
It is entirely up to you as to whether you want anyone else to know hun. If you feel that you would rather not tell anyone else at work then I would explain to your boss that you told him in confidence and that you expect him not to tell anyone. It is your personal life and NOTHING to do with work.
Many people on here have kept it quiet Hun. You could use the excuse of a great bra! He couldn't exactly ask you outright if you have had it done and you can always deny it! xxx

I think your boss is a w*nker!!! I agree with jojo. Tell him you're going on holiday and then if anyone asks, just deny it. None of their bloody business!!! xxxxxx

Re: Less than sympathetic boss
Thank you ladies. Was rather embarrassing my response was 'have you not watched legally blonde' haha there wasn't much he could say to that! Thanks for the support, I like the idea of saying I've had a holiday (but how to disguise lack of tan?) and saying I've got a good bra!
I have to carry a heavy laptop, do you think this is poss just one week after op?

Re: Less than sympathetic boss
I booked Annual leave for a week, although I did say I was having surgery. My boss didnt pry as to what surgery. BUT I ended up needing 2 weeks off. Luckily the hospital had given me a sick certificate for 2 weeks!
I wonder if people take me seriously in my profession......do midwives have boob jobs?? Hehe.
Its not always that obvious, is it?? Certainly no one has been rude enough to ask me or comment on my boobs or boobjob. (Maybe I shoulda gone bigger?!)

Re: Less than sympathetic boss
You could always take the time off and say it's for a holiday or something to save the ear ache? Not that they have a right to speak to you like that anyway, really out of line - especially in that profession!
I'm in Shropshire too, just noticed, where are you planning on having your surgery?

I am currently a B and would like to be DD/E. It was rude wasn't it! I wouldnt dream of saying that to anyone. How arrogant and narrow minded! Think I'll just keep it quiet.
Trying to change this damn avatar and won't let me on iPad?
Oh, the profession is like that, very elitist and pompous at times I'm afraid (I'm not though I promise!) I'm Market Drayton Hun, what about you?
Really appreciate your advice guys xxxx

wow! how rude of him! such a shallow and narrow minded individual
it wont affect your profession hun but if you feel it will make your life easier if you kept it private do so, take a couple weeks off as annual leave should be enough.x

Re: Less than sympathetic boss
Thank you ladies for your replies and kind words.
Cool to hear from another lawyer! I imagine people still 'take you seriously'? What must the boss think I'm going to do, wear a bikini to work?! (although, I'm sure he'd love that).
Angellauren, I really like Dan Prinsloo who operates both in Shrewsbury and Newcastle-u-Lyme Nuffield and have read reviews that he is 'a god'. Where are you thinking?

Re: Less than sympathetic boss
Yes, people still do take me seriously - honestly, it's not too easy to get any credit as an attractive woman lawyer (I'm not big-headed, but I guess in the past, most women who were working at law offices maybe were the secretaries? who knows!!)
But I didn't tell anyone at work, just upped the padding on the bras for the summer, then had it done right before fall and able to wear nice thick jumpers!!
You'll be fine hun!! Good luck!

Re: Less than sympathetic boss
What a tosser your boss is. My boss knows about me wanting to have a BA and he's 110% with me, as he said it'll give me my confidence back. My boss even offered to take me to my appointments

Re: Less than sympathetic boss
Brill girls, I wasn't sure I'd be able to hide them from colleagues (not that I'm going to have them out on show). Sadly I have received a similar response from another female colleague. I'm just such an open person and have nothing to hide but I think I'll have to make an exception. Can't face the office gossip!
Very envious hlt67! That's fab!
Alexandra, I'm totally with you on the getting credit thing, and loving the confidence ;)

I'm having my surgery with him, I really liked him at my consultation! Seeing him again on the 10th Feb, exciting to hear someone considering the same surgeon! Plus, I've heard great things about the Nuffield as a hospital too :-)
Have you met with him yet?

Re: Less than sympathetic boss
If you're wanting to conceal it maybe try adding more padding to your bras gradually over the next few months, then wear slightly looser tops or tops that make you look flatter when you go back to work until they've settled. Hopefully your boss will have forgotten it by the time you get it done. Good luck.

Re: Less than sympathetic boss
Angellauren yes I had a consultation with him, he's lovely and rather handsome too might I add, my mum had an op at the n-u-l Nuffield (not BA though) and said it was like a hotel. I see yours is in 22 days? Shrews hosp? How exciting!
Great idea on the looser tops upon return to work, will the support bra make them look smaller for those first few weeks do you think?
