Re: March Buddies!
My nurse told me to remove bandages and have shower tomorrow. She told me to scrub insison really good 4 times a day.
I am really scared it will hurt. She stressed that it had to be lightly scrubed not patted. Anyone know anything about this??

Re: March Buddies!
All surgeons have different opinions on how to do things post operatively - some won't let you get water anywhere near the for 7 days, others say 14 days and others even longer. Some say wear a bra and chest band, other say go bra less - to us it just doesn't seem to make any sense all these conflicting opinions, but at the end of the day, it is your surgeon who has performed the operation on you and surgical procedures will differ from one to another, so we can only assume that they will know what is best for us for the type of surgery he has done.
He might have found that by washing and lightly scrubbing the incision will help stimulate cell generation and quicker, better healing of the scar tissue. You have to do as your own surgeon requests Candy, he wouldn't ask you to do it if he thought it wouldn't aid your healing process.

Re: March Buddies!
Serenade, I have heard of other women hearing bubbling or swishing of fluid moving around the implant and that should go away once the swelling subsides but other than that I'm not sure. I am Pre-BA so I have not experienced this personally. I would call the PS office and tell them your concern, better safe than sorry and there's no use in putting yourself though worry Hun. More than likely it's nothing!
I'm happy to hear all the 8th girls are managing so nicely considering just having surgery! You girls all give me so much peace of mind going into my BA!
But the Drains... Yikes!!!! Those sound well... Painful!!! I have had three children with not any type of pain meds ( which was NOT easy) but the thought of drains and being cut open makes me feel sick! Lol
I had my pre-op appt today and i went well! I got to see the operating room which was Hugh and the recovery room which was tiny. Its not a over night clinic so I think thats why the recovery room isn't as big. She told me I will have about a hour or two to recover after surgery and then I get to go home, if I need to stay any longer than two hours after surgery then I will have to pay $50 an hour!? That's crazy! But whatever, hopefully I snap out of the GA and I am able to leave on time. I also found out I won't be able to take a bath/shower until 4 days after the surgery because I'm having it on Thursday the 31st and the PS won't be back in the office until the following Monday =( so I'm not sure how I will manage that?? I'm not quite sure I can go that long without cleaning myself! I'm sure I will break the rules and sneak a shallow bath and try to wash my hair in the sink lol.
Oh and I just wanted to say you girls are all so Lovely and I feel like I am part of a big boobie family! I am so glad I found this site ( and so is my hubby) I don't think he could stand anymore BA talk lol and other people don't really like or understand when I talk about implant size, boobie greed, drains, and just BA in general! So I am so happy to have you girls here to relate to and to learn from! Xxxxxxxxxxxx

Re: March Buddies!
Candy I have had surgery of various kinds a few times and I have never been told to scrub an incision, whilst that may be what they wanted it sounds very painful to me... I'd say a gentle wash using a clean and "lint-free" (i.e. doesn't fall apart like kitchen towel paper) cloth would be ok, personally I am going to leave mine alone!
Just woke up, I think 7 hours is pretty good for night 1 at home but my chest muscles were sore and confused so I decided to get up rather than try to get back to sleep.

Re: March Buddies!
Morning, I'm up too. I was sleeping just after 8 and my husband is already up with the kids. Shame, he's got all the running about to do ;)
Aimeencb - if you have had three kids with no pain meds then you absolutely don't need to worry about drains. I didn't think they were sore coming out, just uncomfortable. They were telling me to take deep breaths which seemed to help. I think it's the thought of it that's worse.
I was also told no showers, but my PS said a shallow bath would be fine, so I'm going for that. I have to get stitches out and tape off on Tues so will be able to shower properly then I guess. I've got dry shampoo for my hair but will ask hubby to wash for me if it gets too horrible!

Morning Auriga!
Yes, your poor hubby with the kids! ;O)
I'll do some hand washing for the moment but I think when I'm really confident getting up and about a shallow bath will be on the cards!
I have asked Mum to wash my hair for me some time this week, I hope once it needs doing again (every 3-4 days usualy) I'll be able to do it myself =O)

Re: March Buddies!
Hmm, just went to have a wash and see that I have some blood on my bra. Had a look and it has dried up in the dressing, so don't think it's still bleeding, but is this normal?

Re: March Buddies!
Yes, absolutely normal hun - same thing happened with me. It comes from the little hole which is left when they remove the drains and there might be a few spots of blood that come out afterwards and seep through the dressing and will mark your bra too. My nurse warned me about this and told me not to worry if it was dried blood that I saw.

Re: March Buddies!
Really happy to hear everyone is getting on as much as you can! I hope you're all happy with the results aswell!
I've not been allowed a shower/bath since my op which was a week ago now! I just hand washed every day and any day I felt up to it I had a shallow bath, it just makes you feel so much cleaner. I had my mom wash my hair twice then yesterday I managed to do it on my own.
Auriga - what a shame your OH is having to do all the running around! haha! Enjoy it while it lasts!
Amieencb if you can have kids without pain meds I imagine this will be a piece of cake!! Not had kids but I'm pretty sure its ALOT more painful than I've been in the past week. Also drains are depending on your surgeon and surgery, I didnt have any drains but did get warned about them before just in case they had to put them in. So dont worry too much about them.
Get my post-op appt today! Getting my dressings off, and checking I'm on track. Really worried they're going to tell me somethings not right! But the thought of being allowed to shower after it is keeping me going! I'm actually really excited to have a proper showed haha

Re: March Buddies!
Congrats on everyone who has had their BA in the last couple of days. Yah! The worst part is over. All the fun is ahead.
I had my post op appointment yesterday. It wasnt nice getting the Khan tape off, I wont lie. But was great to see my boobs for the first time. Really pleased with them. Promise I will try and take some piccies today and put them up for you. The bruising is quite bad on mine which was quite shocking. It did feel really weird without the tape for a while.
I had my first proper shower but was warned still no baths and that you need to make sure that the scars need to be carefully wiped dry after any shower and make sure that you rinse any soap off properly.
He also said I should change my sports bra every day now that the dressing is off to keep it all really clean so might need to go and buy a couple more today.
Still in a bit of pain today and dont feel like I could drive or pick up my 18month old yet but each day gets easier so fingers crossed nearly there.

Shiv and shaydey all the best for those post op apointments and getting on after, I envy you with the shower! Shiv I'm sure it'll all be right on course and they'll say you're fine huni!
When I pass a mirror I just think I look right now rather than flat chested =OD
I had my first wash since the hospital and feel much better for it, although I'll be changing my bra when my mum gets back shortly so that should be... interesting!

Wow you girls all seem to be doing well since your BAs.
My day is next tuesday and I can't wait although it's not really sunk in yet that I'm actually having the op!
My surgeon says i will be able to shower from day 1 and don't have to wear a bra unless I want to so good to read your tips on showering and changing bras daily.
Hope you all continue to heal well.xx

Seems like we all have different instructions from our surgeons.
Good luck with your BA. I still can not believe I did it. I was most scared the closer I got to the date.
Then the morning of surgery I was strangly calm.

Re: March Buddies!
Ok, that's the bra size question answered, the 34D is too small, 36D is the way forward! I'm only a size 12 tho, I must have big lungs or something!
Welcome to March buddies Carolyn! I know what you mean, it hasn't sunk in for me that I have had BA yet and I had it two days ago! It's crazy when you actually get around to something you have wanted for so long!
I just had my first look completely uncovered and I am happy! I know they have a lot of settling to do but they are even and around the right size so that's a great start! Yay!
Candy and Auriga (fellow March 8th girls) I hope you are both feeling ok today!

Hello ladies,
Sorry to jump in to the forum so late, but I've just booked my BA and it's on 22nd March!
Congrats to all the girls who have had their BA's already. You all seem to be doing really well which helps with the nerves.
PS. I've heard that the squelching/bubbling noise is normal just after a BA, it's just air bubbles moving about, but should settle after a few days

Hi Cath, welcome to the forum and to March buddies!
Congrats on the booking for the 22nd hun, do you mind if I ask what you were and what you are hoping to become?
Thanks for the tip there, that was one bit of info I had missed so I thought it might be a little odd! Fortunately it seems ok.

Hi Becca7x, I've also just joined the March group :wavey:
Thanks for the welcome Serenade.
I'm currently a 34c and I'm hoping to be an E after my BA. My weight has gone up and down over the last few years, and it's left my boobies looking a bit deflated even though I haven't had any kids yet.
I went to M&S yesterday and looked at the 34E sports bras - and they're massive! I could fit them on my head!
Hi Crystal - I think you said hello to me in the newbie forum, but I haven't been back there yet. I see you've had 460 overs - that's what I'm getting soon. Yipeee!

Re: March Buddies!
Hi All,
It's all done and I'm now half awake and half asleep in my room at the hospital. I kept pretty calm until I was showed into my room then I kept bursting into tears but it could have been worse. My surgeon Graham Offer was brilliant, very friendly and he helped to keep me calm. I was admitted and put under in about fifty minutes, it's very weird going under but it happens so quickly that you don't have time to worry to much. It was a lot better and easier than I thought it would be, so to all the rest if you Marchies out there you're gunna be just fine, don't worry. If you want to know anything please feel free to pm me and I'll get back to you with any queries no matter how big or how small. a big thank you to everyone on this site who helped me get through especially carol s, will update you more later.
