overnight stay in hospital
Hi! One of the companies I am thinking of having my uplift and ba with don't offer an overnight stay, you go in early morning, stay in for about 5 hours and then go home with an emergency number and painkillers. Should I be worried about this as most of them you have to have an overnight stay? I asked the surgeon about this and he just said that they were set up to work that way and there was nothing to worry about providing you were going home to someone to look after you. I know a few people who have had surgery with them and they found them to be excellent! Cheers xxx

Re: overnight stay in hospital
Hi hun, I had a day case and I was fine in fact I was glad I didn't have to stay longer. But if you don't feel comfortable with a day case, maybe consider going somewhere else where you can stay overnight.

well I am quite happy to be a day case (need to learn the terminology don't I, ha ha) but hadn't really come across many that were, thanks chick xx

Re: overnight stay in hospital
Here in the U.S., overnight stays are very unusual. Most women have their surgeries first thing in the morning, spend an hour or two in recovery, and go home. I would not have it any other way.

Re: overnight stay in hospital
I've had overnight stays for both my BA surgeries. The first one was just for a BA and I would have been confident to have gone home after that.
The second I had an uplift too, there would have been no way I'd have felt confident to have gone home after that, it's a much more invasive surgery that just a BA and needs a little more care in early recovery IMO. xx

Hiya Lexi, I agree with cookie, after my uplift there was no way I would have felt okay going home the same day. xx

Re: overnight stay in hospital
I thought there was always an overnight stay. I only just discovered 'daycases'. You tend to find daycases are cheaper as you do not have to pay for the care of staying overnight. It tends to be a few hundred pounds more to stay overnight.
Personally I prefer the idea of an overnight stay. My breast surgery is going to be quite expensive, more so than I thought it would be. So it would be in my financial benefit to have a daycase. But I'm opting for an overnight stay despite that, just because I've never had a surgery before and I think I'd be scared. If anything went wrong I'd be in the hands of the right kind of care. I'd feel safe in my nervous state and be reassured.
