Apparantly PIP implants are nothing to worry about much. I was told this at a consultation. Also is it true that they haven't been used since like 2005??

It has already been proven that PIP implants have an excessively high rupture rate. At the moment the contents of PIP implants are being tested by the MHRA to find out if they are a risk to the health of ladies already implanted with them, this is a huge concern as you can imagine for all the ladies with PIPs waiting on this information.

PIP implants were still being implanted by some clinics up until April this year when the AFSSAPS, the health regulatory agency of France, discovered an
unauthorized type of silicone gel being used in the pre-filled implants and the french authorities closed down the manufacturers entirely for the manufacturing of fraudulent implants. xx

They were still being used until they were re-called this year.
The party line until the report on the implants and the silicone is back is that they're safe and nothing to be worried about. But they have yet to prove they're safe or unsafe. The manufacturer PIP got the silicone from thought it was being used for matresses and therfore tests to ensure it was safe to use in bodies were never carried out.
It's thought the safety layer to prevent silicone leaking from the implant in the case of rupture was taken out in 2005.
There's an investigation going on in France and the MHRA over here are investigating too and they say their report will be out sometime this month.
It's all up in the air and nothing is definate at the moment.

Which clinic told you this?

They have been used up until a few months ago when the re-call happened. Their safety has been called into question recently and there was a great deal of suspicion leading up to then because of the excessively high rupture rate that cookie mentioned.

To be honest I wouldn't trust the clinic that told you this hun xxx

Ahh sorry I misunderstood - I thought you meant they hadn't been used in a general sense. I didn't go with Transform but they are a well reputed company and the info they gave you was correct. xxx

Yes, Transform as standard use Allergan CUI implants, the CUI stands for - The Cox Uphoff International Corporation.

If you wanted different implants, for example the Allergan Naturelle, then Transform will get those for you but you should expect to pay more for them. xx

Sorry ladies transform
DID use pips after 2005 and I'm living proof!!!
I was implanted with pip implants with mr Singh
from transform in 2008 which is 2 years after
they are liars and I wouldn't use their company
now after what they did to me
they knew at this point the implants were dodgy
but still used them in me!
Heart breaking , and I'm going thru another company
to pick up their mess as they wouldn't foot the bill
even tho I was STILL within my 3 year aftercare
:-( shocking! XXXXXXX

Oh hunni, that's dreadful! I had my BA before you after 2005 babe and I was told they 'only' use CUIs as standard... Shocked

These clinics have no morals! It's bad enough that you ladies have to suffer the wait on finding out the saftey issue of PIPs along with having to go through re-ops to have them explanted due to their high rupture rates, but to then have to endure listening to lies!... welll..... I'm disgusted is all I can say

God that really stinks it just makes you wonder how many loopholes there are in these so called aftercare policies I'm starting to wonder if they are worth the paper they are written on. At least you will have the peace of mind when you get them changed over geordie princess and hopefully this time round you will be fine. I don't fully understand the siyuation with the pips I know if it was me I would have them removed. Do they only remove them as partof the aftercare if there is something wrong with yours specifically or has it been recommended for everyone with pips to have them removed?

Anyway good luck huni you deserve it xx

Do you mean the difference between Allergan CUIs and Allergan Naturelles?

The CUIs come with a ten year warranty and although are good, safe implant are not FDA approved.

The Naturelles come with a lifetime warranty and are FDA approved.

The warranties only apply to the implants should you have a problem with them, it does not cover surgery costs, you should see your after-care policy if your clinic provided you with one (it's important I feel that you should have aftercare) to check what you are covered for and for how long. xx

Transform have offered to remove and replace my capsulated and possible ruptured PIP implants for a very discounted price. However, after my recent consultation with my original surgeon i will never use them again.
