Massaging the scars
Hi lovely ladies,
Okay so I have been reading up on old posts about massaging the scars and incision sites, and just have a quick Q....
I know that you only start massaging the scars and incision sites once you have the okay from your ps, and this is when the scar is completely healed (usually 6 weeks?) Prior to this, you can massage but not the scar or incision site, is this correct?
I am petrified that I will do something wrong or not enough or not use the correct stuff and it won't heal as well as it could....
So, just wondered what people have found to work the best for them, with regards to products, creams and lotions and how many times is the scar and incision site massaged?
I read in the one of the information sections on here "use a non scented oil or lotion to massage, then any cream or lotions designed to aid healing which should be applied immediately after massaging".
So what do people use for the massaging part and then what do people apply immediately after to aid healing?
Thanks ladies
OMG my ticker said 1 month yesterday, now it says 27 days, Feb is a short month!!

Re: Massaging the scars
I was told that i could start using bio oil on my scars after two weeks so I started on sunday. Prior to that I wasn't allowed to use anything on my scars at all. I did use bio oil from day 2 on the rest of my breast as i'd seen that people were getting dry flaky boobies and nipples, where the skins strecthing and it must of worked because so far no flakiness although i can feel the stretching, feels like sunburn!
I'm not really sure how much or if there's a special technique i just slap it on and rub it in, lol

Re: Massaging the scars
I wasn't told to massage and I had textured implants which my PS said shouldn't need massaging. I used bio oil on my scars after 6 weeks and just rubbed them in firm circular motions. I used bio oil and palmers cocoa butter on my boobs everyday to prevent stretchmarks.
Re: Massaging the scars
thanks ladies, i was also wondering what to do, as I have been told to massage my scars!

Thanks girls!
Danielle, I think your right as long as you follow your ps's instructions, when you can start using stuff, just slap it on and do it as often as you need or can. Good tip about using the bio-oil early on, I want to avoid flaky boobies if I can
Misf1, I love both bio-oil and palmers stuff, smells so good lol, so will probably just continue using these after when I can.
Joyfulone, your boobies look fab hun

Re: Massaging the scars

Thanks girls! x x

Re: Massaging the scars
I would listen to your ps' advice on your scars as everyone has such differing opinions. I use rosehip oil on mine and rub them twice a day after 2 weeks getting more and more firm. You can get pure rosehip oil from Neals Yard (online or shop). Rosehip is the seed the rose flower comes from x
Re: Massaging the scars
Thanks nads,
Okay so I will get rosehip oil if it says in my post op information to do so.
So i'm guessing it works the same way as bio-oil, to help with scaring. I don't then need to use bio-oil too then do I?
I'm thinking palmers cocoa butter on ONLY boobies straight after and then when I get the go ahead rub rosehip oil twice a day on the scars and incision sites.
I'm so worried about missing something, I just want to get it right.x x

Re: Massaging the scars
I would just use one or the other myself, its what you prefer hun, rosehip has vit A for skin regeneration. I use that with gel sheets which helps scars heal flat, cica care ones are on ebay/online chemists.
There is no right or wrong way really, i didnt use lotion on my boobs after and they're fine but its how you feel hun x

Re: Massaging the scars
Yeah I have been looking at silicone gel sheets, saw the post where it was discussed previously. It's on my list of things to buy.
Thanks again hun for the advice, I know It's still a few weeks till op day but I want to get organised now and ready

Re: Massaging the scars
I just used arnica cream by the tonne on my boobies as they were soooo bruised! (misf1 and nads have seen my black and blue baps) . They did start to get a little flakey and I just used a loofah pad to get the dead skin off and put some bio oil every day after (in fact i am using it everywhere now i love the stuff! and i have not had any flaking since.
As for scars I have not touched my scars with anything yet as I still have strips on them which I am allowed to take off in a week. I was going to use bio oil on my scar but i think i will now get some rosehip oil as i know that a pure oil will be much more potent than bio oil.

Thanks Hattie and hope your healing well hun, congrats again on your new shiny . Oooooo didn't know you could get Arnica creame if there is a lot of bruising, will keep that in mind
I've used bio-oil for about 2 years on and off, a friend recc it to me as it made her skin so soft, it's addictive, I just started using it all over and drops in my bath! I will try the rosehip oil post op, like you said for the potency x x

Re: Massaging the scars
also, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but a lot of girls use bio oil for a couple of weeks prior to BA to improve skin elasticity and therefore prevent stretch marks, I did this and don't have any stretch marks
