massaging scars
hello all, yesterday i had my first post op appointment with adam topping. he removed the steri strips and said id have to wear the sports bra for another 6 weeks!! what i wanted to know was when i got home i had a look at my scars well as best i could and i noticed they are quite lumpy and raised .AT told me i can start putting scar oil on the scars. i dont really know what they should be lookin like and ive read somewhere massaging might help the blood flow. can anyone tell me the best way to do this, and any other advice would be great!thankssarah

Re: massaging scars
I know at first the scars do seem quite lumpy and raised hun but over time the do naturally settle and smooth out as the skin heals. It can be a bit of a shock when you first see them i know i was traumatised, lol. Not sure about massaging them, im sure the other girls will advise on this. But be sure over time they will improve loads, xxxxxx

Re: massaging scars
I started massaging mine at 6 weeks as advised by my ps, start doing it gently and then quite firmly as the weeks go on. I used either rosehip oil or dermatix gel to massage them. Pinching them is also meant to be good to break down the scar tissue and help them flatten out, mine took 6 months to be flat and white x
Re: massaging scars
I've been using Rosehip oil on mine Sarah. MB used to give it out in their little pack of freebies but after my reop I bought a 50ml bottle on ebay for £5. Vitamin E oil is supposed to be just as good too - I think you can get that in Holland & Barratt. My scars are still a bit lumpy but have gone down loads in the last few days. I know some girls are told not to use anything for the first 6 weeks but my PS recommended using oil after about 2.

Re: massaging scars
I started massaging mine at about 2 months post op, mine took a little longer to heal so didnt want to disturb anything! i use Bio oil and like Nads advised i also started pinching them a few weeks ago as they were still quiet raised and amazingly a week ago they started to feel a lot flatter! so its worth a try doing that too.

Probably best to check with your PS exactly what you should be doing.
I see you had saline implants - are you from the US?
Also, could I ask you not to use caps. It's difficult to read and is akin to 'shouting' on forums. Thanks
