Showering after BA
Hi ladies,
I had my new boobies on Monday and my surgeon told me I could shower on Friday (yesterday). I didn't yet as I think I'm a bit scared although i desperately want a shower today!
When was everyone else allowed to get their incisions wet? And does anyone know the reasons behind not being allowed to get them wet at the beginning?
thanks girls xxx

I think its to stop them getting infected. If water and dirt collects there you could have a problem!
I'm pretty sure day 5 is fine, when I had my contraceptive implant out I couldn't get water on it for 5 days, had to stick my arm out the shower everytime

Yup, you're told to keep incisions dry in early recovery to help stop the risk of infection. You will be fine to shower now though if your surgeon has given you the OK. Just let the water run over your incisions though rather than targetting them for a soaking LOL and after showering ensure they are totally dry, I use a hairdryer on mine. xxxx

ooh yay! Finally I can get the rest of this orange stuff off - I look like I have had a fight with the fake tan bottle!
i know I should trust my surgeon's judgment but I'm just scared of doing anything wrong! Thanks girls a bit of reassurance is all i needed

10 days for me. I was in strapping for the first 7 days.
I was sacred they were gonna dissolve or something the first time I showered

Hey Jade,
How long have you had yours now? Have you had your 7 to 10 day checkup yet? If so, did the nurse take your bandages off at that checkup?? x

Yeah I had my BA in November. I had my check up at 7 days and that's when they took my strapping off.

Yes I was a bit scared of something happening to them and they do feel like they are going to fall off or something, you get very protective of them!
I didn't have any strapping or bandages on mine, just steri strips and gauze over my nips then I was put in a sports bra with a compression strap over the top. Quite glad i didn't have bandages i would have hated no being able to take a peek!

Re: Showering after BA
I had waterproof dressings so my ps said I could shower the day after my op. I didn't tho as I didn't want to get the dressings wet! If you are worried keep your back to the shower to minimise the amount of water that gets onto the incisions. x

Re: Showering after BA
I could shower after 48 hours. I had semi porous strips on which allowed moisture to get out but not in. I was showering and reaching up to wash my hair like nothing has happened as I wasn't in any pain at all - I had overs though....x
