Showering
Hello lovelies,
At 10 days po I saw my clinic and was given the all clear to be able to shower but not soak and use mild soap.
It's so weird being out of the po bra for even a short time at the moment and find myself cupping my breasts in my arms as I wash, the weight and pressure scares me at the moment.
I rushed my shower desperate to put my po bra on and have that support and security back.
hope that feeling gets easier and I'll be able to have a more comfortable shower.
Still can't raise my arms enough to straighten my hair or to wash my hair properly, just a quick wash and none of that scalp washing.... Think I'm gonna book in at my hairdressers for a good wash and straighten.
Xx

Re: Showering
Totally normal! I walked around holding my boobs when naked for a while! They just felt heavy like they'd fall out! It soon becomes very normal though. I used to wash my hair by tipping my head to the side so I didn't have to stretch my arms up so high. Keeping my elbows close to my body my hands could still reach up. Happy healing!

Re: Showering
The sensation of your boobs being bolted on and able to drop off in a moment does ease up sweetie
When showering, it's enough to just let the water run over your boobs as you wash everywhere else and just let the suds run over rather than actually touching the incisions this early to wash them.
When you're out of the shower it's so important your wounds are thoroughly dried. Any dampness is a breeding ground for bacteria which could lead to infection, so using your hairdryer on a cool setting after gently dabbing the wounds dry with your towel (a different part of the dry towel for each incision) will ensure the incisions are bone dry before popping your bra back on. Try not to worry about them falling off. They won't, it's a natural instinct to cup your boobs, but they'll be fine. You can also start moisturising your boobs too, but do ensure you don't go anywhere near the incisions with any moisturiser. You don't have to use anything expensive, whatever you have in that you already use will do. This helps as the swelling goes down because boobs can get a little flaky and the skin can peel as the swelling subsides, so keeping the moisture in your boobs will help. Again, just don't anything near your incisions while they're still at risk of infection.
You're right to book into the hairdressers for a blow dry. You'll feel so much better. There's no point even trying to wash your own hair if lifting your arms is tiresome. This does get a lot better over the coming week, but until then if you don't have a friend or a partner who can help, then the hairdressers is a fab idea.
One suggestion on hairdressers I'd add is that if you generally use an expensive hairdresser to do your hair, id personally not use them just for a hair wash. Your local hairdressers generally cost very little and if it's just to wash and straighten, it saves you a lot of money too and you're there and back in no time with them being so close to home too.
Enjoy those showers though Angelina. After a couple of showers getting used to the weight of your new boobs (they won't always feel heavy, it's just the swelling) you'll no longer cup them and won't want to get out of the shower either lol. Xx

Re: Showering
That hank you all so much the advice is so invaluable and has helped to put my mind at ease.
Great idea about the hair drier, on that one like sonic and definitely noticing flaky skin at the top edge meeting my armpits on both boobs so got some basic, moisturiser and using that as of yesterday.
It's lovely reading all your posts.
Thank you all
