Re: showering after your BA
Mine was 14 days. I had shallow baths and washed my hair over the bath with jugs of water. It was a heatwave and I felt minging. You could have one. A girl wrapped her boobs in cling film. But you can't get your dressings wet at all. These are protecting your scars from infection
Re: showering after your BA
I showered day 3. i was told i could wash my hair if i found a way not to lift my arms....So i got my housemate to take the shower hose down from the holder thingy and then i stood in the bath and used the shower head on a low warm setting to wash my lower body. I left my bra on and and used a cloth to wipe my arms, etc. i couldnt have a good scrub or anything but felt loads better afterwads (but exhausted). i bent my head forward to do my hair and did everything ultra ultra slowly. I kept my head down as i stepped out so no water ran down my back etc. Also, keep a towel nearby when you are wetting your hair, and just hold it over your boobs in case they get splashed accidentally. The problem i found while having shallow baths was the getting in and out and the strain that puts on your arms....Baby wipes are also a godsend lol xxx

I was allowed to shower after day 2 just not to staturate the bandages and I went to a salon and had my hair washed and it felt Wonderful!!! hubby tryed to do it but just wasnt the same LOL but he did try:) and they didnt want u taking baths for a few weeks but after 2 weeks they said I could swim in my pool with no movement of stroking type so I just floated and sat in the pool

Have a shallow bath. You run the risk of infection if your bandages or scars get wet, so don't take any chances! Or use a few flannels and have a wipe down.
Re: showering after your BA
I wasn't allowed until I had my dressings off and stitches out & that was at 10 days!! I felt disgusting but just had to make do with shallow baths & also got my hair washed by my sis in law at the hairdressers! Dry shampoo was a godsend! Even after that I had to use steri strips and was only allowed 2 shower every 2-3 days when I changed those! I had to do that for 3wks, finished 2day!!! xx

Re: showering after your BA
Hello! I showered on day 3 being careful to avoid the incisions or my boobies in general. I had inframammary incision with no lift or anything. I patted my boobies dry and that's it! No problem!

Re: showering after your BA
I think I'll be able to manage without feeling like TOO much of a grot-ball if my PS let's me shower after 3 days, Moongal!!
But I'm not loving the idea of Nyssa-H's 10 day stint, and then only every few days for 3 weeks!!!
I'm gonna be checking up on this one with my PS for SURE! Eck, I hate being dirty...

Re: showering after your BA
I know, Kiwigirl!! These women are rockstars that can last for so long! I'd like to echo what cookie said, though, that we have to follow the advice of our PS. I will say that if my PS asked me to wait 10 days, I'd DEFINITELY haggle with him!!!! :-)

Re: showering after your BA
Lucky for me, my PS told me today that I can shower the very next day if I want to!! WOOHOO!!!!! He said the drains come out the morning after, and they'll dress me in waterproof bandages, so I'm free to shower and bathe as I please!
This news made a little soft spot for my PS in my heart! (I REALLY hate being dirty!!!) hehe

Re: showering after your BA
^ LOL! Glad you can shower so soon afterwards, though. How come they don't use these waterproof dressings on everyone after a BA then? I'm dreading not being able to wash. I literally will feel like scum. Eww.

Re: showering after your BA
I don't know, Opal Eyes! Seems like a smart thing to me! I had all these mental images of wash-cloth shallow baths for weeks, thinking of how unsatisfied, and "18th century" I'd be feeling having to wash that way...

Re: showering after your BA
I didn't get to shower until a week after, but I did sponge bathe!!
Oh my gosh, my hair was so gross!!! Luckily I had a friend whose a hair dresser, so I went to see her and she washed, dryed, and styled it for me!!
Here in Hawaii, its so humid, I was so sticky and disgusting!!
Seriously, why don't they use waterproof dressings for everyone??!!!
