what to say at work
I know I have been going on about how I have no problem telling people about my op, and I am honestly not shy about it. However, with work it's different. I only started here in November so even if I am friendly with the rest of the stuff, none of them qualifies as a "friend" yet. On top of them they are almost all male - there are only 3 other women and I tend to deal with the guys a lot more so I am not close to them.
I have booked the days off and said that I was going to visit the family in Italy. I have tried to wear more padded bras so they wouldn't notice as much. But still, I think it's going to be obvious! I just don't want them to label me as someone not very serious, who would take time off to have a cosmetic procedure (everybody is a bit of a workaholic here). I know that I am doing nothing wrong, but you never know who is going to be judgmental about it and I'd rather it not being my boss or anyone who has decisional power on my career!
Do you think I should tell them and risk criticism or try to hide it and risk gossip?

This is tricky. I chose not to tell anyone at work, not least because I pulled 2 sickies to do it right before half term! I wore gel bras and kept fairly well covered before my op (easy in the winter) and am wearing similar things now. I honestly don't think anyone would notice mine and I had 255 unders - you might find the same.
Just see how you feel is my advice. I actually feel more relaxed about people knowing now that I've had my ba - I suppose it's confidence. I'm keeping it quiet but I wouldn't deny it if anyone asked me outright I don't think....although I couldn't be sure until I was in that situation!
I do think you're perfectly within your rights to keep it a secret from the blokes at work...

Hey chick,
I honestly wouldn't worry. Pre-op I thought it would be soooo obvious, but if you pick your clothes carefully, you really can't tell!! No one at work has batted an eyelid!

Thanks girls, I suppose even if they notice they would never have the guts to ask lol... I just don't want gossip as it can escalate for no reason, but I guess there's not much I can do. Telling them feels too weird at the moment.

Thass interesting. I guess once it's done and if anyone asks you, you can think again; but (where I work) I'd hate to tell them before I went off for the op, knowing that they'd all be falling over themselves to casually walk past and take a look when I got back.

Re: what to say at work
Hi, yeah i would die if anyone at work knew i was going to have it done. To be honest there is no-one at work who i would trust with the information. And there is no reason as to why they have the right to know to be honest. I don't see any of them out of work hrs.
I am hoping you won't really notice, i mean i don't think people really look at your boobs do they? Mind you i can't speak about men.
I would suggest you don't say anything and just wait and see how you feel after it all.

If you don't want to tell them (which I can completely understand) just gradually start increasing the size of your pre-op boobs. Wear really padded bars (two if you have to!) and wear inserts and chicket fillets too, that way you're post op boobs and pre-op shouldn't be that dissimilar.

Yes I think admitting that you are going to have a ba is harder, as it's admitting a major insecurity with your body. My inability to admit my insecurities to any of my family, friends or even husband led to sooo many problems for me.
I'd definitely prefer that no-one knew about my ba, and won't be rushing to tell anyone (other than those close to me) but I can feel myself lightening up about the whole thing, gradually. Which I didn't expect.
I suppose it's because I feel absolutely fantastic!!!!! lol

Re: what to say at work
yes I understand hun, and I am glad you are finding it easier to cope with telling people.
In my case, I have no prob with friends and family, I am glad for those who support me and I can cope with those who don't because I am 100% sure that I want to do this and that it's for the best. but with work, they are not close to me and I want to maintain a professional relationship for now, I don't want them talking about me - they have my job in their hands and boydo I need it! especially after spending all this money for BA!!!! i know they can't (and wouldn't) sack me for sth like that, but a gossipy atmosphere at work is not nice and can lead to bad relationships....

Yes, definitely agree about gossipy atmospheres not being good. I'm a teacher and if I thought the kids knew, I would be MORTIFIED. I am petrified of being labled as a vain bimbo and of people whispering behind my back!! So my baps are staying firmly under wraps during work hours!! lol
I honestly don't think anyone's batted an eyelid though so I'm sure you'll be fine with the size implant you're having...

I wouldnt tell them! They wont notice. If you were completely flat and then you had 800cc implants or something than it would be obvious but otherwise id say theres no need to say xx
