Open Wounds
Hi All,
I am new here, but glad I found a place I can see if others had issues that I am having. I had a breast lift and implants 500cc back on Oct 15th, the left breast is doing ok, but the right one right under the nipple split open to a V shape and under the breast I have a open wound where the stitches are still sticking out. The PS told me this happens and they are healing and its only a month that I am worrying for nothing. I can take pictures if I am able to post just let me know, but I am really freaking out.
There is no infection, it does ooze with some blood and he told me to us bacitracian (sorry if I miss spell) and use normal gauze because that breaths and helps heal up but it sticks to it and reopens when a scab forms. Any advice and I go to see the PS on Tues should I ask them to snip off the stitches sticking out?
Any advice would be very helpful and if anyone had this happen like to know how long it took to heal and will I have horrible scars now?
Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum Ditto
I'm sorry hun, I've no advice, but there are girls here that will have, having undergone uplifts themselves and one lady (Tuttifruitibeck) is having a problem with her wound not healing too...
I'm sure they'll be along shortly to offer you some advice, but in the meantime.... you get a hug from me!

Re: Open Wounds
hi ditto thats exactly whats happened to me, its horrible isnt it.
i have a wound about the size of a 20p round one side of my nipple and an open wond where the vertical scar is. i also had gauze but like you said when its time to change dressing you stick to the dressing and it feels like your going to pull youur boob open, when i told my nurse about this she suggested leaving my bra off for a couple of hours to let it dry up but that didnt work so i went to see her yesterday and she told me i have to go back to surgeon to have it restiched in a week friday as i think if it was left it would disfigure my nipple.
its a horrible feeling as you think youre leak into your clothes or get an infection i can wait to get it restiched as its really doing my head in, i dont know why this happens but im glad you posted so i know im not the only one let me know what the nurse says tues ,

Re: Open Wounds
Hello Ditto and welcome to the forum.
I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your wound still being open, you need to follow your PS advice but if at all in doubt get back onto him, the last thing you need is to get an infection.
It's such a knock back when you don't heal within the expected time.
Wishing you lots of luck x x

Re: Open Wounds
Hey lovely, welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear you're having problems.
As has been suggested, it's great you've got professional advice but if you're still worried then you need to see your surgeon again. If you want to post pictures we use a site called picturetrail. You can add as many pictures you want and password protect them so only people who have your password can see them.
All the best lovely, let us know how it progresses.
xx

Re: Open Wounds
Hi All and thanks,
Well I been told its only a month and they will heal, but now I am like will I have big ugly scars, I didnt want to do this type of breast lift but was told I had no other choice and the scars would fade.
I go in on Tues, I am going to ask him about clipping those stitches and as if they should close them up because they are not healing at all the one under my right nipple is all scabbed up and look ugly. but its not getting smaller so going to have questions about that too.
I will keep you guys informed and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] let me know what is happening with your problem. I feel so alone, my husband thinks Im over reacting and my gf who was here for a month to help me left to go back home to NJ but has called me everyday to make sure Im doing ok and being my on the phone support.
Thanks to everyone and I am so glad I found this forum and you all seem so nice and supportive.
Have a good night and I will post after my dr appoitment to let you know what I was told.

Re: Open Wounds
Thats sounds very scarey. Perhaps the implants are too heavy for the incisions to hold together, that would be my guess, even more so if you had overs? I don't know what you had. Fingers crossed that your PS will be more helpful today than just saying 'it will heal'. :console:

Re: Open Wounds
Hi Everyone,
So the PS said I healed faster inside and the fluid was not able to get out so it built up, he cut away the dead skin so it can heal faster but now I have bloody wounds again. He says I will heal just taking longer from all this

I asked him and he said no he would not do that because then it can cause more problems, he says they will heal but just going to take time, they are still draining, I push on them and a thick liquid comes out, they are scabbing but he cuts that out every week now I have to go because he said that will help it to heal faster.
This is just fustrating I guess, I am a little more then month out of my surgery maybe I am having too high of hopes

Re: Open Wounds
Just read all the posts on your thread, I'm glad you have found BJSF and can tell us all about your problems. So sorry it is taking such a long time to heal, and that you have had such an awful time, with a an open wound.
Maybe you should see another surgeon if you are not satisfied with your ps. It sounds as if it should be restitched because I don't see how it can heal properly with such a gap.
Anyway, thinking of you. Send you a big hug from England

Re: Open Wounds
I go again on Monday to see the PS, I think the ones under my breast should be restiched, Im going to ask him again, the one below my nipple he said he can not because it will cause an infection if he does, it looks like its healing but the smell is awful, makes me sick to my stomach he says there is no infection its just the dead skin im smelling....has anyone else had this?
The wound on the left side I really think should be restiched but it keep draining, I dont know if that is good or bad and its been draining for 3 weeks now, he did not tell me to do anything but clean it and keep gauze over it which i have to change 4-5 times a day because it drains that much, at night I cant wear my sports bar because it hurts so Monday I am going to have questions and want answers, tried of being told your doing fine, just have to give it time, I feel like a freak right now. :(
Thanks to all who have given me hope, and those who wish me well Las Vegas is great town but nice to have friends in England who can understand what has happened to me

Re: Open Wounds
i really think you should get restitched iv been restiched twice by diffrent surgeons and they both said i needed restitching i also had a horrible smell i went to gp he gave me antibiotics just incas and took a swab and i had results back on fri that i had a skin infection in the wound, i personally think they should at least give you antibiotics even as a precaution, i now have no discharge or smell

Re: Open Wounds
This is exactely what happend to me.....I too didnt want a full anchor lift as i knew how intrusive the scarring would be.....plus....im a smoker, and i didnt read until afterwards that is op is definately not recommended for a smoker.....
My wound breakdown was the worse theyd ever seen....4 2hr trips a week to-ing and fro-ing to the hospital for dressings, and to be told that i would heal....i was just sllloowww......
They appllied silver nitrate at times, to errode new forming scar tissue to allow me to heal inside-out....that hurt....leaving me sore....hacked off.....
3 months later my left implant decided it wanted to see daylight.....my PS had never seen this before.....my cosmetic nurses (whom id grown quite close to by now) where dumfounded,,,,,,rare.....so i dont want to put the frighteners on you.....thus needing removing....leaving me assymetrical until 3 wks ago....PS perfomed a complete re-aug...new size-shape implants....cut away all of the unsightly scar tissue from up-lift....im still recupperating....im ok....but concerned my scars will go "twang" once more....may i ask what your situation is now?? xx
