Is it too early for me to sleep on side?
The last 2 nights I have woken up and been on my side. I wasnt in pain or anything, infact it was really comfortable, the only thing was I was thinking maybe my stitches would be getting stretched?? It is ok to sleep on my side at this stage? I dont want to be doing anything to the stitches or anything that hinders my healing or makes my scars worse? Or am I just being totally paranoid again! lol

I started sleeping on my side from about 3 weeks post op, I would try and sleep on your back a little longer just as it helps with swelling.

I had same as you DD, woke up on side, what I found helped as I tried to stay propped up and my m&s zip front sb literally 'holds' them in place anyway so they dont move at all with that on, so I used a big fat pillow and laid sort of on it, as tho was cuddly it while still propped up,, found it really comfy xxxxxxxxx really glad alls going well for you hun xxxxxx

I started lying on my side after a few weeks I think as I have enough trouble sleeping as it is let along on my back! I think as long as your sports bra holds everything pretty much where it is then you're ok. My ps said that I only really needed to sleep totally upright for the first 48 hours.

I did upright for nearly 4 weeks and then flat until week 6...I obviously over did it with the uprightness....my bum was so achy!! Sleeping on my side now is quite comfy in week 8...except I just had the swine flu jab and my arm is really hot and sore and I can't lie on that....that was worse than the post op recovery..hahahaha. What a wimp eh?
As the others have said a big V pillow would help support you and maybe a pillow under your bum. Glad you're recovering ok DD. Mxx

I think I started sleeping on my side at around 2weeks maybe a little bit less. If you rolling on to your side then I should think you'd be fine but if you can then I'd try sleeping on your back abit longer. xx

DD... If you're still feeling the gurgling watery feeling in your boobs I'd recommend you try and sleep raised for a little longer babe, just to help aid the draining of any fluid you might have left... But if you're comfortable after that, there shouldn't be a problem now. xxx
Re: Is it too early for me to sleep on side?
I started sleeping on my side SOMETIMES from 2/3 weeks, but i used to put a pillow under the side i was on for comfort and a bit of extra support, i also used the duvet and tucked it into my clevage, so nothing moved at all.
It is hard though, but you will get there

Hmmm yes good point, I do still have this. I also get it though when I have laid on my back and then I stand up, its like the implants are clicking into place.
I will sleep propped up a while longer I think. Ive got 4 pillows and a V pillow propping me up, does it have to be my whole upper body or just my shoulders and neck/head? xx

I asked about this at my 1 week check and the nurse said just sleep whatever way is most comfortable. You won't do any damage by sleeping on your side x

Re: Is it too early for me to sleep on side?
This is interesting - because I am now 15 days post op and last night I tried laying on my left side - which is not my preferred side... and found it too uncomfortable. I still have really achy boobs, even in the m&s super strength sb! I reduced to 2 pilllows last night too and woke up at 5am in agony! Ibruprofen and back to sleep for another 2 hrs - but they have ached pretty much all day.
I am managing ok with sleeping on my back but I cant lay any flatter than 3 pillows still ! You're lucky if you can get comfy this early - and im very jealous !!! xx

Re: Is it too early for me to sleep on side?
I slept on my side after 2 weeks once I'd had my check up and stitches removed. I slept propped up for the 2 weeks on my back, didn't sleep upright, they told me as long as my head and shoulders were elevated that was enough
Re: Is it too early for me to sleep on side?
I slept on my side again last night - not intentionally! It was so comfortable so I'm just going to go with it! I've just mentioned on another post no wonder i was so uncomfortable sleeping upright and found myself trying to get comfortable in other positions....i was literally sleeping at 90 degrees lol!! Oh well I am back on my side again tonight if its not hurting!
