Is this normal procedure? Empty Is this normal procedure?

Post by lisxxx9 7th November 2009, 7:46 pm

Hi

I had my pre-op on thursday and it seemed to go well. Nurse wanted to do blood tests for blood count and thyroid as I have had previous problems, she also said I was to see doctor if my cough got worse as they wouldn't do op if it goes into my chest. But tonight I got call from nurse at hospital asking me same questions, height, weight, allergies ect. Is this normal? Was she checking to see if cough was worse or am I being stupidly paranoid? Screwy
thanks

Does seem a bit wierd ringing up and asking the same q's but I wouldnt worry its probably an oversight rather than anything sneaky. Do you have asthma or an underlying breathing prob they would have concern about?

I do have asthma, but totally under control. I think this week is going to be the longest week of my life!!!! WHEN it gets done, I know I am so going to regret all this worrying and just wished I'd enjoyed the build up. But knowing this still won't stop me worrying. Is this normal procedure? Icon_smile

Hi,

will do that going to give them a call on tuesday to see if everything was ok. I keep thinking something is going to go wrong, so until I wake up with new boobs, I don't think I quite believe it's happening.

It all seems fairly normal procedure to me hun,

I didn't have time for a pre op as I got my appointment on the Friday and I was due in for surgery on Tuesday, but I'd recently had thyroid, blood, heart function. kidney function and all kinds of other tests so they just referred to those for my op.

I'm sure you'll be cleared for take off

HI Lis

All normal (I also had mrsa swabs etc.,) but the phone call seems bit odd, I wonder if she lost or misplaced your form somewhere and needed to fill out another, did you sign anything??

I had to sign my pre-op form...

I did sign something for my doctor, and maybe signed something else can't remember now. Was told not to phone for blood results they would phone if there was a problem, but I'm going to phone them anyway and mention the phone call on Saturday.

I didn't have bloods done by transform- had MRSA swabs but only because i work at a hospital so I am in the "at risk" group.

The phone call sounds like they have misplaced a form or something- those are the kind of questions I had to answer at my pre-op.

Not long now! xx

Hi Lis
It is your body, blood, op. and emotions....also you are paying and employing them, you need to be in control, informed and up to date with all investigations and tests concerning you. I would call and ensure your your mind is at rest. Also, I think they are just ensuring you have the best care needed by double checking between departments...that says good care to me.

Hope you are still excited and looking forward to your special day...it is fab Is this normal procedure? 113752 xxx

Can't believe I'm excited about it OH is sick of me "singing badly" round the house yahoo I need to calm down a wee bit tho or it'll be a long week.
