Post by Dancing_Diva 22nd October 2009, 7:23 pm

Hi Ladies

I have my op a week Tuesday Smoking?? 923101 and I was just wondering how far before your op you have to stop smoking? I'm not a smoker but sometimes when ive had a drink I will have a sly fag!! I am supposed to be going out on the saturday before my op and I know if i get too drunk I will prob end up having a fag! How long do you have to stop before hand? Obviously if its going hinder my healing or something I wont have one but I was just wondering?? xxx

Don't do as I do, do as I tell ya. lol
I'm a terrible smoker. So I'll just tell you what you should do and not what I did.
Don't smoke before your op for at least a week it lowers the amount of oxygen in the blood and this can hinder healing. My advice leave the sneaky fags out for a while. Give your new boobies a good start

They say at least 2 weeks so i'd defo leave out the sly fag, the reason is because it can affect your healing, you'll have to find something else to chew on, take loads of gum or something so you're otherwise occupied Smoking?? Icon_lol have fun on the saturday x x

Ditto.. I have given up sooo many times, and love it when I do, then something stresses me out and just one and away I go again.. such a weak character where its concerened, anything else I put my mind to I can do, but fags are evil little monsters, everyday I wish I didn't smoke, my oh does like a chimney and last time I quit for three months last year and we nearly broke up over it,, wish I had a magic wand and could wave it over us both and just 'quit' xx

I thought I was lucky as I don't smoke and that was one less thing to worry about, but since my op I've had such a bad cold and cough and sound like I smoke 20 a day! and believe me coughing is painful. Don't do it chick give your body the best chance to recover xxx

I stopped smoking 48 hours before my op, as instructed in my notes from Transform. I don't really drink that much so not drinking was easy! Transform also said no alcoholic drinks for 48 hours before your op.

I know how hard it is hun, so good luck!!
