Tongue piercing anyone???
Sorry girls me again, pre op nerves are def kicking in!!!!!
Has anyone else got their tongue peirced??? Did it close up when you were you were having your BA?? I know it sounds pathetic and silly, but Im scared its going to close up, I am thinking of only taking it out at the last minute before going down to theatre but then again Im scared Im not going to be able to put it back in after?
My OH wants me to take it out soo badly, because he had bad experience with his, so I cant count on him to put it back in, one of my friends who has it done said she would, but do you think Ill be able to do it myself??? or am I going to be in too much pain!!!
Sorry for such a silly post

Re: Tongue piercing anyone???
I had my Tongue pierced but took it out as I got an infection in it before I was going on holiday and didn't want it to get worse.
How about you buy a plastic bar to take with you and ask when you get there. Your mouth heals very quickly and mine started healing within hours. You can always ask the nurse to put it back in for you when in recovery.

If it's only an hr you should be ok. I had mine done for 6 years. Mind you though you've got to look at the bigger picture. New boobs are better. Can always get it re-pierced.
I'm thinking of getting mine done again

I have my tongue pierced. I took it out the morning of my op and put it back in about 2 hours after I came around from it. Putting it in was no problem at all.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (another BJS forum im a member of haha) sell the PTFE bars and retainer bars if you're that worried, but as the other ladies have said, it's unlikely for it to close that quickly and i felt well enough to put all 16 of my piercings back in straight after
lost my nipple piercing though, didn't really wanna mess about with my nipple as it was MEGA tight and stretched, don't think it would have gone in if i'd tried, plus i only got it pierced to make it look bigger/prettier haha

Plastic bars are nice to wear anyway, I prefer how they feel in my mouth! Probably do less damage to teeth too.
Lol, I've swallowed a LOT of piercing balls. It's so annoying when I'm having a meal with a load of people and the ball comes off in the middle of a mouthful of food and I'm trying to discretely get the ball out of my mouth, without any food coming with it aaand without anyone noticing

i have my tongue pierced and took it out during my op, i put it back in the following day with no probs but i have had it pierced for about 8 years, i suppose it all depends how long youve had it done for, i think if u put it straight back in after u should be fine tho xx

Re: Tongue piercing anyone???
Hey Hun, I've bought myself a retainer for my tragus and my tongue, ive had mine peirced six years but its awkward to get back in after a couple of hours. Got them from ebay, they are soft plastic bars with a small elastic band type thing that sits on top rather than the screw in bars. Have read up about them and most surgeons are happy to let you wear these during surgery.. have a look x

Re: Tongue piercing anyone???
i used to have my tongue pierced but it kept getting infected, i tried using the plastic bar for a few months but it didn't really help much and also if i had mine out only for an hour or so it would close up and was so hard to get back in again.
if you have had it in for years though hunny it should be fine i would think.
i would never have mine done again lol.
