That moment you realise you need a re-op
Some of you girls know I've been having issues with my lefty. I was just on the treadmill hill walking, and I think it suddenly just hit me - I have to get this fixed. I cant keep ignoring it and hoping it'll get better, or keep telling myself its just a muscle strain. I'm almost 2yrs post, and righty is perfectly behaved, so why should I put up with lefty.
Its kind of a devastating thought, and has left me feeling kind of empty. The fact I'm going to have to put myself and hubs through that again, the healing time. Plus the fear that it wont look as good as it does now. I love how they look, but I just cant keep dealing with this pain. There's also the worry about how hard I'm going to have to fight for this too. There's no outward signs of an issue, the implant and breast is nice and soft, and no nasties showed up on the ultrasound. I'm pretty sure the implant hasn't stuck to the pocket properly in one area, so I can feel it moving around on the inside, and it gets really sore. A straight swap should sort it.
I'm also upset because I've just gotten myself active again after the first BA and then last years fiasco with the AOSD. I completed the 5k and have signed up for the 10, and it feels like I'm going to have to go straight back to square one again, because its going to be way longer than 6wk before I can start running again. Then its also do I wait until after the 10K (July) to go ahead with it...but then there'll always be a reason to put it off.
So I've resolved to head back to the surgeon once I'm back from holiday. Its going to be a hard ol slog, but hopefully my surgeon agrees to the procedure without too much fuss. I've actually gotten myself quite upset getting all this out, which is silly, but I just wanted to share.

Re: That moment you realise you need a re-op
I really hope your surgeon does understand. You've been back a few times now so he is aware of it, and I'm sure you're not the type of person to give up a fight (if needed of course)
make sure you do relax and enjoy the holiday, put it to the back of your mind.
My colleague is from Jamaica, gutted he hasn't got an accent! Say 'Jimmy Carr' reallllllly slowly! That might cheer you up! X

Re: That moment you realise you need a re-op
I knew from 6 weeks I would need a re op and was lucky my surgeon agreed. I've been feeling pretty philosophical up until now that it's only next Thursday..... And now I feel upset and down. I didn't find the procedure at all painful but it's just dawned on me the crappy back from sleeping propped, the boobie blues, no running, no hoovering, no walking my dog. But it will be worth it because I didn't wait 20 years to do this (always hated my boobs, 3 kids finished them off ) to put up with half a job. Go for it, my first ba in October seems like a lifetime ago, you will have forgotten and be back to normal again in a blink xx

I'm gutted for you charlii, but pleased u have made a decision to push for a reop if that's what u feel u need. Sometimes even just making a decision can help us to feel better in some ways. Really hope u don't have an uphill battle regarding our reop though, just adds insult to injury eh?

Emma71 is so right, wise words.
Sorry that it's come to this but making the decision is probably the hardest step and now you're in the path to putting it right. Enjoy your holiday you deserve it and then keep us posted afterwards. But don't goneorrying sbout how they'll look....your surgeon got you a good result before so he can do that again!

Re: That moment you realise you need a re-op
Thank you all for the support. This'll be third time back, and we took all the surgeons advice, so I'm really hoping it won't be too hard. I think it'll have to wait until I'm off the steroids, but that should be end of may. There's no use wondering the what ifs though until I go back there. Have to have my work head on rather than my home head so I don't get too emotional about it! Let's just focus on sunshine and cocktails for now though!

Re: That moment you realise you need a re-op
Oh gosh Charlii, sorry to hear this! :( I'm not sure what had happened before, do you have a diary on here at all?
Either way you are doing the right thing and acting on a gut instinct which is always the right thing to do. Like you say, even if there are no glaring signs anything wrong it's YOUR body and these boobs are YOUR investment so you have every right to voice your concerns and get them swapped. The recovery and the emotional side of it is a hugeeee ball ache, but you've got to do what you've got to do and everyone will be behind you, supporting you, 100%.
Regarding the running, you'll get it back, don't worry! You have your whole life to get involved in running and races, you've got to put your health and happiness first. You'll surprise yourself with how easy you'll pick up your fitness again once you've been given the all clear. Running is alot about mentality, more so than you think.
Thinking of you. Not long till holidays, cocktails, sunshine and fun :) xxxx

Re: That moment you realise you need a re-op
Don't think there should be a problem in having a re op, as you say you've been back to see surgeon & he is aware of the issues you've been having.
It helps to get it all out on here instead of worrying & that's what we are all here for!
As you say it may just be a straightforward swap of implant, healing should be easier if this is the case and you have managed to do the 5k shin splints & all!, you'll be back running once you are recovered from re op.
Mammamia is right your surgeon got you a good result before, no reason why he wont do again.
Do focus on the sunshine & cocktails for now! XXX
