Sorry for the rant..beforehand!!!!
Got very upset today and can't stop crying and prob over the silliest thing...OH is now upset because I am..
I sat looking at my new boobs and really think they are way too big for me...much bigger that I thought or wanted them to be......OH thinks they are great....(but he would as he's a man...)
My main prob is that I didn't/havn't told anyone and the difference in size is so **naughty word *** obvious that when I go back to work on Monday everyone will notice........OH saids 'so what' but it will be a big deal for me as I'm not a confident person to pull off the comments...or ignore.......them....and I work with approx 30 ( close) women who will notice....There are over 200 staff altogether and they will also notice for sure....
I'm not young like most of you ( 42 on Friday) and am thinking what a daft thing to do at my age...(had lived with old boobies for a long time..so coul dhave lived with them another 40 or so years)
I'm only 5ft tall and weigh around the 9 st mark......my boobs were prob a 34b beforehand and now a whopping 34/36 E/ F or even bigger!! once they settle
sorry.....had to say it....may make me feel better...

Aw hun, I feel terrible for you, don't cry. You changed something about yourself which you were unhappy with. You should be proud of yourself for being brave enough to do it. It's a hard desicion to make. I'm sure you thought about it long and hard before you did it. You should look at your boobs and be proud of them, cause you had the courage, no matter what age you are, to do something to help you feel better about yourself. Dont worry about what other people think. Is that the only reason you dont like them because of what other people will say?
I was talking to Rachel09 about this yesterday, but I too worry about negative comments, and I just remind myself, that we were able to change something about ourselevs through surgery to make us happy, and nobody takes the decision to have an operation likely, but those people who react negativley have something that can't be changed, a bad personality. And no amount of surgery on any part of their body is going to change that.
I think you will be surprised, people may notice but they will be asking lots of questions and I bet so many women will say "I wish I could do it" or "I wish I had the guts/money to do it"
Your definatly not daft, and your not old. Be proud of yourself. I'm sure your just working yourself up before going back to work, when Monday is over you will be thinking what was I worried about. I think most people will be happy for you, you may even start a trend. They'll all be going to have them.

awww sweety i hope ure ok, we all get emotional after op so don't worry. Happens to the best of us. I was worried what people would think but noone noticed....i went from a droopy 34b to a perky upright 34e and i thought they were massive. By day 8/9 i couldnt believe how normal and part of me they felt and I didn't notice the size.

Infact apparently my manager who only knew i had surgery (didnt tell him what for) asked my best friend if i'd had a reduction as I looked so slim and fit all of a sudden....i was kinda upset but then thought...nah they're huge to me. We're looking down at them remember, they look bigger....it's like when u have hairy armpits, they look hairier to us coz we're up close!

I agree I put a vest on with a v neck top on over the top and I couldn't tell I'd had them done my O/H was very upset. But you can dress them down or flaunt them, depends what you wear. I'm in a DD at the mo, went from an A/B cup.

Think it a combination of all of the comments above......back to work, worried what people will say/think...GA, up front and personal to the boobs...made time of month creeping up up on me..I don't know just wish I could stop the tears and feel happier...cheers all..x

We all get bad days and good days. So let yourself have a good cry. Sometimes it's just good to get it out of your system. You will feel happier on Monday night when you realise there was no need to worry. Dont forget you will still be thinking like a smaller chested person and when you look down they look so different to you. It is a change. And any change can take a while to get used to. You have a very understanding O/H bless him. You are very lucky. I find layering clothes hides them completley. They dont have to be baggy. Try not to worry it's easier said than done I know. Be proud of yourself.

Post by dbs 30th May 2009, 5:49 pm

I think having a bit of a cry after surgery is completely normal (and surgeons do warn this can happen) You have gone from a relatively small size and its just going to take a bit of getting used to, in a way it could be a bit of a mourning process for what you had as you had it all your life, iv heard this can happen.

People might not even notice. My sister had her op nearly 7 years ago, didnt tell anyone and I only noticed 4 years ago when I was getting married and got her to try on her bridesmaids dress!!- and that was only because she, like me, lived in gel bras and it was a strapless dress so I new she couldnt have been wearing one! How likely are people to confront you about it? I think if you hide them for a few weeks and then gradually build your confidence with them/other people it will be more of a transition.

Its most certainly not a daft thing for you to do at 42, you are doing something for yourself, you work for it and why not?! Its noone elses business, and if they do have the guts to ask you, just say what my sisters standard reply was "its amazing what a good bra can achieve these days!"..noone batted an eyelid.

Shandy please dont be upset. Ive been in exactly the same position. Im not a spring chicken (38) similar size and at first I thought mine were huge and everyone would know and be negative etc... Only one person commented but shes odd anyway and they settled down loads over the first month and now really suit my body. Please put this down to a post GA downer and the massive emotional build up prior to the op. You will get over this little blip - promise. Gab to us - all the lovely girls here will support you.

Post by shiningmoonbeam 30th May 2009, 10:19 pm

I had the same worries as you hun, I work in a small team where everyone seems to know everyones business, I told work I was off for surgery but not what for! I was so worried they would notice as I have gone from a 32b to a 32dd, but if they have noticed no one has said!

Try to remember you're only 6 days post-op too and still have swelling to go down. I'm 5 weeks p/o now and mine have changed so much, at first I thought they were huge and I have to say I did wonder if I'd gone too big, now they've settled and look so in proportion and my same tops for work still fit me.

Also if anyone at work does notice and makes snide comments to you about it which you find uncomfortable they should remember that it is actually a form of bullying and your company should have a policy on this and reprimands on how to deal with people, nobody should be able to make you feel uncomfortable.

Also just to say congratulations on having it done at 42, I think it's fab, alot of people go for years feeling unhappy about themselves and don't have the guts to do anything about it, and you've gone ahead and done something I bet no end of ladies (including your collegues) wish they had the courage to go and do, so don't worry just feel very proud of yourself, and enjoy those Flash xxx

Hi, wondered how you are feeling today? Hope you are ok. Try not to worry about work, if all your work colleagues suddenly decided to pick on you and make nasty comments say about eg your clothes, what would you do? You would take so much of it and then complain to someone higher up in the company?? Its the same with your boobies IF anyone notices and makes uncomfortable comments, you don't have to take it, no one has the right to make your life at work a misserable one.

Having said that, i bet that most of them won't even notice.

Hold your head up high and be proud of what you have acheived.

Aw hope your feeling better about things?
Like the others have said-be proud!
Does it really matter what ppl may think at work? the only ppl that matter is you and your OH, would you rather keep your co workers quiet and be miserable, hating your boobs?
You done it for you hun, not them, and like misf1 said they prob will just be pleasantly interested, asking qusetions, and thats if they do notice? they may not.

Feeling a little better today thou still very anxious/ nervous/worried etc. for work tomorrow. Tried different tops today and OH said you could hardly see a difference (thou he's walking very carefully on egg shells and he wants to say the right things )tried the layers and also bought tops way too big for me...will prob take them back as I look like an over weight fat spring chicken....
I must say all the support and comments from you did settle me down ( and after a few glasses of spirits last night) it made me be brave for a while any how feeling less brave right now ....but it will be interesting if any one does notice.....
let you know tomorrow and thanks to all of you , your been great....

Aw hun, poor you, try this test...

Think about your pre-op boobs....
How long did you want bigger ones for?....
How excited were you to be actually getting them??....
Is your OH supporting you & does he like them??...
Forgetting work/everyone else here...
How do YOU actually feel about them now??..
Do you feel more feminine/sexy??..
Do they look nice in tight tops etc??..

I really think you need to stop worrying what they will think at work and start concentrating on what you yourself (away from work) and your OH feels, it's you two that are the main important ones here not your work colleagues, i bet you look lovely and have a new found happiness inside that you are afraid of feeling because you think you have done something morally wrong in other people's opinions in your workplace, if they do notice then believe me it will be envy they'll feel, you have gone and achieved something many women can only dream about and you will not be the only one in your workplace who wants/has had a BA, you need to hold your head up and carry on as if nothing has changed, be happy with your new self and smile because you deserve it, so what about your age, that tells me it took you longer to get what you wanted so even more you deserve to enjoy them, please try not to care so much about everyone else & what they may or may not think, good luck sweetheart Hug xx

I'm 42 and have gone from a 34a to a 34ff... NOT EVEN MY CHILDREN HAVE NOTICED!!! Hysterical

Having been boob obsessed for so long, I expected everyone else to immediately notice when I'd had my BA... they really haven't!

Don't worry about the people at work, I'm honestly sure it won't be as bad as you fear.

I agree with what everyone else has said Hug

Also 74% of women apparantly are unhappy with their boobs (the other 26% have prob got implants  ) which means that if anyone is a little funny about it, you know that she's just jealous! I'm sure that no one will be though, I expect IF anyone notices that they'll just be very curious!

I went on a course today (fitness training) with a very tight top on and given I have felt really self conscious about my boobs being perhaps a bit big for me for a little while , not one person looked remotely in the direction of my boobs, not one!! Result!
You will be fine, that of I am very sure. As has been said before, just be confident, hold your head up high. Its a chioce you made, just for you no-one else. You look great, its just such a big difference for you, thats why you feel the way you do. I felt so the same as you do now but given time it has become some much easier.

Keep us posted.
