New and looking for some friends and advice !
Hello ladies! I have been contemplating the idea of having a BA for ever and now I have had my second baby I feel like the time is right.. but I have so many questions ! I ve been looking at so many before and after pictures, types of implants I feel so confused now. Saline? Silicone? Moderate, gel? I have no idea. And also how do you pick your surgeon there are so many out there? I live in Haywards heath near Gatwick, I was recommended 2 surgeons in London (Angelica Kavouni and Dr Garrick) and their website seems great but how do you pick? Sorry Im sure my questions are stupid... Are there any women out there like me that are at the beginning stage of the BA journey? Thanks for any help you can give me, I love reading all your stories and can't wait for it to be my turn !!

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
Hi MrsF, welcome to the forum. I've not been here long and I'm pre-BA still researching. You might find the first few months (or more!) you will spend doing research, have a good read through all the sections here and you can search specific words or terms in the Search box on the top right. The more you read about others' experiences, the more information you will be armed with. Keep a notebook!
You need to decide what look you are going for, if you think you need an uplift etc then look at surgeons that might suit YOUR needs. In truth, the only way we ever know anything for sure is to go for a few consultations and even then we are faced with choices, but that's certainly the best way to narrow things down once you have done all your online research. There's a checklist somewhere to take to consults with you. Personally I would say do LOTS of research, but remember you cant trust everything you read on the net. For example, one girl could be over the moon with her result while another could suffer disappointment with exactly the same surgeon/ result. A lot of it is down to the look you want but of course health & safety is paramount. Remember the right surgeon for your friends might not be the right one for your needs. We are all so different. I've already changed my mind a few times about who to book consults with lol!
This is a great forum though, everyone seems very helpful and supportive

Welcome! There is so much info on here! At this stage I would try and get a consuktstion just to narrow down your options and get a professional opinion. Doesn't mean you need to go ahead, but it will help you understand what you're looking at! Always try and see at least 3 different surgeons to compare opinions and see who you trust most. Maybe check out the McIndoe centre which is near you save you the travel (so long as you like their surgeons!).

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
Thank you cartoonUnicorn and mamamia !! I have just read different surgeons websites about different type of implants. Hard to pick on your own though, I like the idea of the tear drop but implants look so different from a woman to the other. Im trying to look at women who have my type of boobs ie. small B cup, still perk but not full anymore due to breastfeeding to get an idea. Mamamia Thanks for the surgeon recommendation I checked him out! Cartoon unicorn what kind are you looking at? I like the idea of a small D cup? Im about 5.5 and 120lbs. Im so excited I have wanted them for so long. Price wise what is the norm? I was quoted about 7000 at a practice in London and Just saw another one in London for 5000£ its such a big difference. What did you girlies pay?

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
Hi and welcome, you've had some great advice already. It's best to see a couple of surgeons, and you'll soon know when you've found the right one. Sometimes you have to pay for your consultation, but some surgeons take this off your final bill. Don't feel pressured it to booking or paying straight away unless your 100% happy, it's also best to see your surgeon a couple of times to make sure you are happy with the size of implant you are going for.
Every women is different and surgeons don't work in size just cc, and the look you want. X x

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
Hi and welcome :)
London is a little more expensive I found. I live in London myself so I expected it to be a little more pricier. The larger commercial clinics will probably be similar priced, but if you go to a surgeon direct it will be more.
I am having tear drop and have been told they are the most natural looking implant, but then there is a slightly bigger risk of rotation with teardrops vs. round. I'm actually having a type of implant which has a velcro like texture which means the chance of rotation gets cut to 1% and the risk of CC 1%. If you see Mr Garrick he specialises in this type of implant (they are called furry brazillians!).
I am having a lady surgeon called Mrs Kat in Birmingham. She has incredible reviews, has qualifications and awards left right and centre and just genuinely a very nice lady who seemed to really listen and have my best interests at heart. Have a quick google, I would highly recommend :)
Otherwise, welcome! You are at the 'Overwhelmed with info' stage, I remember it well! Don't worry, spend some time on this forum just doing lots of reading and get some consultations booked in. You'll find you'll learn so much so quickly!
good luck! xxx

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
Thank you Emma ! I would like to see different surgeons but as I am waiting to start my new job to be able to afford the procedure I can't go having consultations that are £100 each! So whenever I start my new job I will go for them but right now I have to wait and just get as much information as I can! Hi Blush ! I love the idea of furry brazilians ! So you live in London but are having the procedure done in Birmingham ? Couldn't you find something you liked in London? Was it much much cheaper there? mrs Kat sounds lovely but with 2 children I dont think I could go so far away..Sorry about all my questions!!

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
Hi. Best thing to do to get you started is research, and get a consultation under your belt. You are in no way obliged to go ahead with anything, its just a good kicking point to see what would be available for you. Here in the UK, silicone tends to be used. Saline is more a US thing, so don't worry about that. The surgeon will be able to advise of the best implant for you, size, shape, profile and placement. Just because one was the best for someone of the exact stats as you, doesn't mean its best for you. There is no better or worse.
Have a good read of the forums, and have a good look at some boobs! Start with ours (and play guess the implant if you like - you'll be surprised!) and have a look online at celebs etc for a feel of what look you want, and what you don't want. Try and focus on shape and look, rather than "I want a D cup" because a) yours and your surgeons idea of a D will differ and b) a D on you will be different to a D on me. There is no exact science, you just have to go with what looks good on you.
Make sure you see at least 3 surgeons, and try and include at least one BAAPS registered surgeon. You can look on the BAAPS website and search by region for surgeons in your area.
I was very naïve when I went into this, only saw one surgeon whom I clicked with, and luckily everything turned out OK, but I would absolutely advocate seeing as many as you can, and getting as much information as you can before making a decision. London Private surgeons do tend to be pricier. A good trick is to see if they work out of other clinics/practices. Sometimes you can see the same surgeon through a different clinic for slightly less. Also, maybe think about expanding your search to the home counties? Lots of people travel for their BA for different reasons, to get the surgeon they want, money, or sometimes the theatre is based elsewhere to the clinics (i.e. The Hospital Group have clinics all over, but their main theatre is in Birmingham).
Hope that helps!

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
Hello and welcome to Breast Buddies,
Lots of good advice already given.
As you're right at the beginning of your BA journey, I think you'll find the information we have in the 'Breast Augmenatation Information' section of the forum helpful to you, there's so much in there to help you get your perfect boobs, including a fab consultation notebook which is filled with every question imaginable to ask at your consultations.
If you have any BA questions or concerns, just ask away ,there's generally always someone around to help if they can. We have a lovely group of ladies here who are more than happy to help and share in your booby journey.
Enjoy the forum xx

Hi and welcome. I was reading about that you like teardrops. Aka anatomical. . It's the surgeon that would say if they are right for you or not. Get a couple of consultations under your belt, it may give you a clearer picture. When you go to the consultation take pictures with you of what you like. And also write a list of questions you want to ask. Xxx

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
£100 for a consulation seems a lot but £300 (3 surgeons) is nothing compared to the 5/6k you're likely to spend and then more so potentially over your lifetime! Research is key! You could try a clinic for a freebie or cheapo consulation, mybreast seem good, but I would also pay to see a private surgeon. The £100/150 covers all your consultations as you'll likely have at least 2 appts prior to your op.

Ps I would decide on the look you want based on photos and then let the surgeon decide the size/shape/placement (within reason!).

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
MrsF to answer your question, I'm hoping for an E to F cup, I'm currently a 30C. 5'3 118lbs The fashion seems to be for natural looking at the moment, lots of girls seem to be going for that.. but I love the big fake round look and feel that would suit me better so I'm looking for a surgeon who will take me to big and round safely.

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
Hello and welcome
I think the girls have answered all your questions but I just wanted to say hello!
Personally I went to The Hospital Group and Harley Medical for 'free' consultations to meet other surgeons and to get more opinions. Now I do think I should have been to see more BAAPS surgeons through 'my breast' where you can see a BAAPS surgeons for £25!
They didn't reply to my email so maybe giving them a call is better.
MYA, Nuffield, BMI are all reputable companies, but definitely visit a BAAPS surgeon :) you need to trust your surgeon when they talk sizes, placement etc so make sure you see a few :)
I went through Ramsay Healthcare and my experience for the op was amazing! xx

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
Thank you all so much for your answers it means so much to be able to talk about it all. My husband is not overly enthiusiastic I think he is worried its going to change me. Anyway thank you guys SO I think my next step is consultations. I just looked on the BAAPS website and there are 25 surgeons in my area.. How did you select them? Does anyone have a surgeons they would like to recommend in the south east or south London? Im so excited about all this all your avatars look amazing !! Sarah thanks for the advice on My breast will look into them. Cartoon I love that you are going for big and fake. I love that look. Wouldn't fit me but I would be one of the girls starring at your chest with envy haha ! mamamia you're right, I think I just need to have all the money ready and then consultations won't seem like a problem. Anne you're right the surgeon will be the best to pick. I think its the tear drop look I like. Do you know Elsa Pataky the actress? If you google her topless on the beach THATS what I would love to have and will be taking to me surgeon ! Thanks for all your answers and help I love this forum !!

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
lol oh dear I just googled 'Elsa Pataky topless' and saw a lot more than I bargained for hahaha!
I didn't take any pictures to my consultations but if you really like hers I certainly would take a picture with me.
I didn't have any celebs I could say 'I want her boobs' I just said I wanted to feel comfortable in a bikini and wearing a dress without a bra.
The surgeon measured my breast width and told me the size of the implant I could go up to, so I went for it.. but really I wanted bigger so he went for the highest projection to achieve more. I went for round not for a super fake look but because I didn't want too natural.
At 24 I know I'll have to have them a done again in the future, so maybe when I'm older and possibly after kids I'll go for the tear drop shape :) xx

Hi and welcome to the forum mrsf, I'm down in brighton which is not too far away!
Great advise from all the ladies.
Spire, bupa, and there's the nuffiled in Hayward's Heath which good surgeons work from.
Paying for a consulation is worth it in the long run for a good detailed one, you can also have a free one at one of the big clinics for a others surgeons advise for something to compare it to.
Also the price of the consulatation may be knocked off the entire price if you ask. Not always but worth a shot.
There's a spire down here in brighton and also a hospital in east grinstead.
Just beware if you did go for a commercial clinc consulatation you'd see a Pcc first not medically trained at all and unable to offer any proper surgical advise such as Cc size or placement ONLY a a surgeon can do this.
If you were to see a surgeon also, don't be pressurised or swayed by the Pcc for a quick sale price reductions for on the day bookings will always be there it's just to make you book there and then.
Also bear in kind a Pcc will always be your first port of call in a commercial clinc, a spire, bmi or nuffiled or Independant surgeon you'll have direct contact with the surgeon.

Re: New and looking for some friends and advice !
Pcc is patient care coordinator. Glorified sales woman. The others are private clinics! Commercial clinics aren't the boogy man, you just have to be a little more on your toes with them, i.e. don't be wowed by the pcc's, know what you want, and don't fear speaking up. Private clinics and baaps tend to skip the sales pitch and you'll be in direct contact, but you pay more for it.
As for teardrops, your surgeon will advise, but you can still get a natural look with rounds, so don't worry if that is advised. All round implants eventually fluff into a 'bottom heavy' teardrop shape, so unless you ask for a fake look, either is fine.
