Re: Driving after breast augmentation
Atleast 2 weeks...and even then I found it a bit uncomfortable. Some people do it sooner but I was told it was not worth risking it. Also if you have a crash you will not be insured unless you can prove you can comfortably do an emergency stop. It killed me not being able to drive as I live in a boring lil village and was stuck in the house!
Hope that helps

Re: Driving after breast augmentation
I have been driving since day 10, when i went to have my stitches out. I have had a about 3 instances when i have been in real pain during parking, but other than that, wearing the seat belt is not a problem and yes i do feel i could do an emergency stop without being in pain.
What i've had to learn is how to drive like a learner again. I can only shuffle the lower half of the stearing wheel,- can't put my arms on the top of the wheel and changing the rear view mirror is uncomfortable (which i have to do as i share my car with OH, and we both have to adjust the mirror to our own angle).
It does say in my aftercare info that you should refrain from driving for the first week, preferably for 2 weeks, but that you are allowed to drive from 10 days on.

Re: Driving after breast augmentation
Lol, LJK is right about becoming a learner driver again. I drove today for first time - 1 wk post op, but I have overs so quicker recovery. I was feeding the steering wheel through my hands around corners and roundabouts like on your test, looked like a complete novice driver. The DVLA would have been well happy with my impecable driving!!!
Oh and I need two hands for reverse! Beware 5th gear is painful (or at least it is in my car). But I didn't find that out until I was on the motorway slip road so had no choice but to ignore the pain and get it in 5th, ouch!!!!!!!! Therefore I advise you to go through the motions stationary before you decide to drive! xxx

I drove after 3 days but wouldn't recommend it!! After a week I was pretty much ok on short distances and by two weeks was absolutely fine and drove myself down to London for my post-op check xxx

Re: Driving after breast augmentation
I would leave it 2 weeks, try it out slowly and if it feels ok and doesnt hurt turning the wheel or changing gears you should be ok, if it hurts you dont want to risk an accident. I started driving after about 3 weeks and it still felt quite awkward
Re: Driving after breast augmentation
I left it 2 weeks and even then it felt wierd, you could feel the muscles pulling when you were driving so just take it easy, xxx

Re: Driving after breast augmentation
I was a passenger yesterday, got out of the car to do some quick shopping, when i got back in, the car was parked on a slight slant. I went to pull the door shut and god did it hurt, wouldn't have if the car was on the flat, but because i was having to pull against the camber as well, it really did hurt. So please be careful when just closing the door, its all the small things you don't think about that can cause pain. take care x

Re: Driving after breast augmentation
Hi
I'm probably gonna get a slapped wrist by lots of girls on here. But i had no choice really i have three boys who need to get to school so i started driving on my 5th day. I felt fine to be honest. I had unders. Like some of the other girls have said it's about knowing your own bodies limits and driving like you are doing your test again.
I'm not driving unnecessarily just the school runs there and back i do have an automatic car though so don't have to change gear which i imagine is easier.
Listen to your body is all i can advise.
