Driving after breast augmentation
I attempted driving yesterday for the first time, just literally a 5 min journey. Assumed I'd be fine as I'm now 18 days post-op.
Well, firstly I couldn't reach across myself to put the seatbelt on, or to wipe the condensation from the windscreen... felt really useless!
Handbrake was a bit odd, gears were ok... but the steering wheel was a mission... it was ok round little bends, but big roundabouts were pretty scary. I can't really explain how it felt, it wasn't pain, but I didn't like it. I found I was ok if I kept my elbows by my side & held the steering wheel at the bottom, but big turns were a no-no. I have power steering, but it kinda felt like I didn't!
I have to say, I've always been pretty good at parallel parking, and getting my car in silly little spaces... well, not any more! I couldn't twist in my seat to look over my shoulder, I couldn't yank the steering wheel around... aaaggghhhh!!
I was a bit weepy by the time I reached my destination!
When did you girlies drive for the first time? & how did it feel? Does the odd feeling go away or is it just something you get used to?
Xx

Oh no!! :pale: This is the bit I've been dreading. I never even considered the reaching to get the seat belt.
I've booked 2 weeks out of my diary, but was really hoping that I could drive much sooner than that... especially as I haven't told anyone I'm having my op. It'd be interesting to hear everyone else's experiences.
Thank goodness you're safe, Mrs M... take it steady. xx

Hi
I only had my op last thursady, but i went out driving this morning. My right boob is currently fine so using the steering wheel was not a prob, however my lefty is a little more tender so was a little alkward when changing gear ( I was aware I had boobs if that makes sense). I certainly wouldnt want to be driving any great distance at the mo but I feel fine in doing the odd short distance. xx

I suppose there's going to be a difference depending on whether you have overs or unders.

Wow, you're amazing! I can't parallel park to save my life!
I didn't drive for about 3 weeks. I could have done about 2 weeks PO, but didn't want to risk hurting myself

Re: Driving after breast augmentation
Hey girlies... just a quick update...
I drove to Tesco today & the steering was fine, no probs... gears felt a bit odd, like I could feel something going on in my boob, but nothing abnormal I don't think... however, going in to 5th was just, oh god, I can't even describe how it felt... eeewwww!!
I think I'll probably drive to work tomorrow, as quite frankly, I'm bored of the train now after two weeks. I go on the motorway so I'll only have to go in to 5th once & then it's a straight line all the way! :-)
