Sore skin/nipples
Hi ladies. This really is a question for the post op ladies on here. For the past week my skin on my breasts and my nipples has got sorer and sorer to the point anything touching it is excruciating! It feels like very bad sunburn but looks completely normal. I think it is nerve pain to be fair. My left is much worse than the right but both are sensitive too. I am taking ibuprofen and an antihistamine and using bio oil and palmers too. Is there anything else I can do ladies as I'm back in work on Wednesday and really could do with this being a bit better by then! I am 2 1/2 weeks post op

Re: Sore skin/nipples
It's a normal feeling, and should calm down in a couple of weeks. Its just the healing. Stick with the antihistamines, but switch to paracetamol rather than ibruprofen. Also maybe switch to a milder moisturiser, E45 or baby lotion, to make sure there's no irritants there. Not that you could be allergic, but as they're so stretched and sensitive, plus hormones will still be adjusting, they could be reacting to the bio oil etc.
You could try slipping a cotton wool pad or pantyliner over your nips to try and help the sensitivity there. What bra are you in? Sports bras tend to not be cotton because of the compression, you could always get some cotton fabric to slip inside your bra to ease the chaffing. Cheap kids undies?!
You'll know when its nerve pain, it'll be an electric shock and you'll grab right for them!

Re: Sore skin/nipples
Oh yes I get those too Charlii! Not as much as I did in the early days tho! They're called zingers aren't they? I have stopped wearing the sports bras for now as my surgeon says I don't need to wear a support bra til after six weeks just a comfy one and the band so I am wearing crop top type bras with padding in to stop me accidentally rubbing my nipples! Will switch to paracetamol if that is better hun. Or maybe take both for a few days?? And will try e45 as well. Do you think it is a sign that I am gonna start with stretch marks? Hope not! Thanks so much for your help as it really has been getting me down a bit for last few days xx

I think some of the girls call them zingers, yes! No, I don't think its an indicator for stretch marks, just the healing on the inside. Try some ice packs aswell, that might help. I don't think theres any inflammation, just the sunburn feeling, so the ibruprofen wont be doing anything effective.

Re: Sore skin/nipples
I had the sunburn feeling & sensitive nipples for around 2 weeks, the circular cotton pads helped with the nipple pain, just gave them that extra little bit cushioning. Icepacks wrapped in a towel helps for some, but I hate being cold so gave that one a miss.
Charli has given great advice re pain killers etc, hope it passes soon for you XXX
