Got my period.. do I need to tell surgeon?
Apologies for bluntness of the subject but I couldn't really think of another way to put it!
Today I got my period.. I only get them when I get stressed and sometimes they last for weeks and sometimes they last a day but as it's now here and I don't know how long it's going to last I just wanted to check if I have to tell my surgeon? It shouldn't affect anything should it? I think I read somewhere that you can't wear tampons if you're having general anaesthetic, is that true or am I making it up?
Thanks in advance! :) xx

no you cant you need to wear a pad or nothing i think
ive read some surgeons dont like to do a BA when a girl has her period, something to do with the swelling of breast tissue etc at the time of period but if your surgeon hasnt mentioned this
but dont worry ur period should be almost gone by then?x

Well Tink I'm hoping so! but because I've got the implant I don't get regular periods, they're all over the place and can last for weeks at a time without getting any lighter or anything which is why I'm worrying a bit. They're normally triggered by stress though so I'm hoping that if I just relax over the next coupla days that it'll go away.. maybe I'll call him tomorrow just in case. that'll be a fun conversation! xx

You'll be absolutely fine. I've never actually known of anybody being turned away from surgery because they're having their period
I had my period on the day of my second surgery and I'll tell ya one thing Jordan, be sure to take your own sanitary towel, because I hadn't realised you couldn't use a tampon so had no pads of my own so had to use the ones provided by the hospital - it was like a king size mattress So just be sured you're prepared babe.
You're able to use your tampons though (if you do use them) right after surgery if you want to, but not at all during...although I've read a couple of times that some hospitals do allow for it, its not common practise so take your own pad hun. Xx

Could you imagine!? "Sorry Miss Green, you can't have new boobies cos you're on your period" how would you explain that one!?
But thanks Cookie! I haven't wore pads for years... I'll have to raid my sisters, I'm sure she won't mind xx

Oh I had a flashback reading this to the big pads the hos give you after you've had a baby, I loved them they were so comfy, like wearing a big nappy.
Jordan I was coming to end of my period as in last day and I just wore paper pants & pad, told the nurse on going through questionnaire and it was ok for me.x

Hiya I was coming to the end of my period when I had my surgery too. I told the nurse who just said put a pad in the paper pants, when I woke up I had different pants on with a different pad which was perhaps the strangest thing of the whole experience that someone was faffing about down there when I was out cold! I had some blood on the top of one of my stockings on the outside so it may have been that I bled from my boobs during surgery or something, still very strange! You'll be fine though.
