Having period during surgery?
(To all of you that doesn't know I'm scandinavian, sorry about my english)
As I have written about in my "boob diaries" my lovely husband have a warning system in his calendar that tells him about when I have PMS
I have just realised I might have my period during my surgery and was thinking about how this will work with the famous and transparent "sexy-pants" I need to have during surgery?
Will I be able to put in & out a tampon direct after surgery?
Or do I need to wear the other thing (I don't know the english word but it looks similar to the thing babies poo in and older ladies wear when they pee themselves)
And how would this "other thing" work with transparent knickers?
Will they allow me to wear normal knickers in this case?
Why do the knickers need to be transparent during surgery anyway?

Re: Having period during surgery?
Hi Isabel, I wondered this as I thought I would be on but I just missed it in the end...
From what I know, you arnt allowed to wear a tampon during the surgery, you will have to use a sanitary towel (ive been told to take your own because the ones the hospital provide are huge!) it will have to go in the paper pants and then you will be able to change afterwards...
that's all I know on the subject because when I worked out I wouldn't be on I stopped looking in to it... :) xx

Don't worry about it Isabell, just take your own sanitary towels and you'll be fine... Unlike myself who wore a tampon and was told I had to remove it before surgery and they gave me a sanitary towel like a king size mattress!
You'll still have to wear the paper knickers although some will bend the rules a little as long as your knickers are 100% cotton. Xx

So they will still insist on the sexy pants then... Sanitary towel...I would never have guessed that what it's called.

Re: Having period during surgery?
Thank you for asking this question as I have wondered too! My periods are very erratic at the moment so have no idea what will be occurring on the big day! Half wondered if they would be wearing silver crosses and waving garlic around if I turned up avec menstruation!!

A attests cookie, that did make me laugh it must be a hospital standard issue like in the maternity units, the size of the pads are like mattresses!
The knickers they provide arnt completely transparent either hun, theyre paper so not see through! X

Re: Having period during surgery?
I had my period during surgery and made sure I had sanitary towels with me as tampons were not allowed. I did still wear the lovely mesh style knickers!!

Re: Having period during surgery?
I think I got a rough deal!, My surgery pants were made from a mesh type material (like fishnet tights) so were pretty much see through!! However the nurse did make me feel better but pointing out that woman look best in them and just imagine what a bloke looks like wearing them.......
..... Need to get rid of that visual from my head!!

Sorry that I'm going to remind you but my husband had them on when he had surgery, I could see everything. It wasn't pretty.....Seashell72 wrote:I think I got a rough deal!, My surgery pants were made from a mesh type material (like fishnet tights) so were pretty much see through!!
