When do you find out the time of your surgery?
Hi girls
8 days until my big day !
The letters I received from the hospital say 'we cannot advise you of your position on the theatre list at this time, please discuss this with your nurse on arrival'.
Is this normal ? Do you normally not find out the time until the actual day?
Im panicking ! xxxx

Don't worry babe. You can get a call just a couple of days before your op! So its still early days yet.
Don't panic babe. Totally normal. Xx

Re: When do you find out the time of your surgery?
You'll find out your 'admission' time a few days before your op, but you won't find out when you're actually going down to theatre until the day of your op. You could be first on the list (lucky) or you could be one of the unlucky ones and have to wait all hours.

Re: When do you find out the time of your surgery?
I got a call on the Thurs or Fri before my op on the Sunday for my admission time. That was 7am, so I asked if it was likely that I'd have an AM op, and they said yes, but that's all I knew until the day. Then once I was up in my room it was written on a little white board and I went down around 10 I think.

Not necessarily no.Sassysazzle wrote:Oh I was wondering about that too.......do they try and get the day cases in first?? Xx
The patients who have health conditions or allergies are generally first on the list. X
Re: When do you find out the time of your surgery?
I had an admission time of 12.30pm but I only happened to find out I was first on the list when I paid a few days before my op - I asked what time my op was so I could give my husband an idea of when I would be awake.

I think I must've been lucky, I knew a few weeks ago that I've got to be there 7.30am and I'm first on the list. I don't know if that will change or not..... But I have got it in writing and also when I spoke to my surgeons secreatary she confirmed it all....... So fingers crossed that's still the case.....

Bless u lozzykins, I remember worrying about same things in build up. Fingers crossed u be one of the first to go down.
I found out my admission time the day before and when got there at 7am, found out I was first on the list. It was the anethatist that wanted me first as did generals first and then locals after. It all just depends. Xxxx

Hi
I've got my admission time of 1230 when I booked my date ( back in may)but with that I am just hoping I'm not last to go down. Got pre op at 0900 the monday before so might ask where I am on the list for surgery the following week!!!!

I got a letter today saying admissions time 8am ans op time 1130 but I'm guessing that's a rough estimate.
