Blood Test Results
Hi ladies
So I had a call from the docs this morning asking me to go and pick up a prescription fit iron tablets as my blood results showed I am slightly anaemic ( I suppose this explains the low blood pressure and dizziness)
I have to take 200mg twice a day
Do you think I need to the THG know about this? Could it affect the surgery? Xx

Yes definatly need to tell them. Try and eat lots of high in iron foods, and take your iron tablet with a glass of orange juice as that can help with absorption xx

Re: Blood Test Results
Better to let your clinic know now Jo and to help manage your care to ensure you're fit for surgery than to leave things till last minute with no chance of discussing it with them or allowing them to collaborate with your GP to ensure you're fit for surgery and possibly risk having your op cancelled on the day.
I'm sure it will be fine but if you're on ANY medication on the run up to your BA your clinic should be informed hun. Xx

Re: Blood Test Results
Thanks ladies, I had a big of a shock yesterday when I called and the PCC said I would be looking at a 4 week delay and they would need to see 3 normal blood results, I could have just burst into tears.
Then the nurse called me back after my docs faxed over the results and she said they are only marginally low (11.7 and should be above (12.1). So she said as long as they don't go down between now and surgery day I should be ok to go ahead. I'm taking 400mg of ferrous sulphate a day so they really should not go down (fingers crossed)
