Stitch poking out.
Right at the corner of my lefty a stitch is poking out, Il show my nurse on my 6 week check but that's a bit late and Il be like 8 weeks PO then, It was the only late appointment she had as I can only go after work...
Its been there from the start I just thought it would have fallen out by now?
Hope it don/t hurt or anything if she has to pull it out???
Can anyone enlighten me?
Will it be left? Or taken out? Or will I be told to wait and see? xxx
Thanks xxxxxxxxxx

Re: Stitch poking out.
It'll be taken out babe and you won't feel a thing.
I'd really try and get to see your nurse as soon as to get the stitch snipped. Spitting stitches are very common but... They do risk becoming infected, so I'd if you've been given the all clear to fully submerge your boobs in the bath, or use public swimming pools, sauna, jacuzzis, I'd very much suggest you don't do this until the stitch is removed as you now have an opening hun. I wouldn't use any bio-oil or moisturisers either on the part where you stitch is picking out hun, just to avoid he risk of infection.
Don't worry though. Just keep an eye on it if you can't get an appointment any sooner. Xx

Il be careful x

Hey Hun, good advice from cookie. Try and get seen sooner as you don't want to set back your recovery, lose stitches in any place can be a direct entry for infection. xx

Re: Stitch poking out.
Hey Lottie,
I had a tiny bit if thread hanging out at the end of my scar. I wasn't even sure if it was thread or skin till it fell out yesterday. No sign of infection or anything but I noticed it since the dressings came off at 12 days po xx
I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but if it puts ur mind at ease I'd ask xx

I agree with the others hun, try and get an appointment to see your nurse! If you can't then as cookie says, no oils etc and don't submerge them in water. (I'm still too scared lol).

Re: Stitch poking out.
I'm feeling ok thank you my ribs are sore today but I feel the swelling has started to go down a little and I'm moving my arms fine! Surgery day was great I was in theatre for 1pm and stayed overnight. Even my husband didn't want to go, lol. I had to forcefully tell him to go home as he settled down for the evening, getting tea and food brought to him while watching the soaps, lol.
I hope you hear back soon, chances are it will be fine but always best to log it so you don't risk voiding aftercare or doing something not advised ;) xx

They can happen with any surgeon. Spitting stitches really are a common thing that happens when having a BA. Really glad you're being seen so soon though. Xx

Re: Stitch poking out.
So strange after 5 weeks nearly since my BA I've had that stitch and I think it's disappeared! I actually can't find it now???? I don't want to poke around too much but I can't find it? I only felt it this morning when changing sports bra? How mad if it fell out today?? When I arranged to go and see the nurse! Haha, after my shower il feel again and if nothing i suppose nature wanted rid of it today lol x
