Stitch still poking out?
I remember someone else had this too, maybe Angelpie? But I am 4 weeks post op already and on both my scars the internal stitch is still poking out at one end. Is this going to go away? Will it dissolve? What happens? Thanks girlies!

I never had this in either boob but i know a few girls have. I'm not sure if internal stitches dissolve, it depends on the type of suture your ps used. I would give them a call and ask. Im sure if they're poking out they'll trim them x
Re: Stitch still poking out?
I was told they were internal and they should dissolve. But right now it doesn't look like anything is dissolving!!!!

I think they just need trimming hun, they take a while to dissolve are they poking out alot?
Re: Stitch still poking out?
I dident have this MM but I have heard it mentioned on here, cant remember who sorry!! But as Nads said , perhaps give them a call and a quick trim may do the trick. Mine were internal and dissolvable too, soo I was told. Hope someone comes along who can be of more help to you.

Re: Stitch still poking out?
I have heard that disolvable (sp?) stitches can take a long time to disolve, so I wouldn't worry too much just yet. In fact I'm sure that I read on anoother site that a girl had a little bit removed by her nurse nearly a year later!! (But I think that's an unusually long time).
It wasn't me that had them, as all mine were proper "old fashioned" stitches and when I had them removed I had the whole lot out (apparently my surgeon doesn't use disolvable stitches).

They are not poking out a lot, just a little bit but enough for me to notice - you can't really see it but you can def feel it, like a small hard bit of wire! which is not so pleasant to the touch! Not sure if it's long enough to trim... will ask :)

Re: Stitch still poking out?
Don't worry...I had the same thing but when I went for my check up the nurse just snipped it off. I had dissolvable too but I think you must have the ends on the outside (to finish them off) which then don't dissolve, and they need snipping off.
It was also a relief cos that little bit felt a bit tight and caught on my bra...but afterwards I had no more bother.
If you can't get back to your clinic, pop in to see your gp nurse..she should be able to do it for you no problem!

If it is just a small bit sticking out they will pull it a little with tweezers then trim and when let go it will disappear into your skin to dissolve so you wont notice it after hun, saying that, if it was left it would also work it's way out after a few months too so if it's bothering you get it trimmed xx

Re: Stitch still poking out?
Thanks SS, that makes sense, I will call the nurse tomorrow and arrange an appointment to have it trimmed, I really don't like having it poking out!

Re: Stitch still poking out?
Went to see my nurse today and she just pulled the bit of stitch at the end out - and that was it. She checked me too as I was there and said that everything was 100% fine both with my boobs and scars, and even better than it should be after only 4 weeks, so I am feeling good now :)
I wanted to start massaging my boobs and scars but she said to wait until I see the surgeon...

Re: Stitch still poking out?
I am past 4 weeks post op... the nurse says that sometimes they don't dissolve or they take a very long time and the body actually tends to push them out in that case, which is what was happening, so it's easier to just pull them out. It didn't hurt, they just came out in a sec.
