Hello,

I wondered whether any of you girls do any kind of boxing training etc and did you mention this to your PS or have you had any problems

When I went to my consultation the other day I asked the PS when I could start my training again, when he found out what it was he told me that I would have to be very careful and even think about doing something else as if I punched too hard or more importantly "repeatedly" that it may eventually push my implants into my armpits!!! Shocked

Have any of you guys heard of this?

Thanks

Carlie

I think it is something that you need to consider carefully. I do not do it, however, quite recently in the press I read that they have 'banned' women with implants from boxing.

I would take your surgeons advice and discuss further and do some more research. Good Luck xxxx

I asked my PS about this as I do boxing as part of my circuits 4 times a week, he said that I need to refrain from any upper body exercises for 6-8 weeks but am able to do lower body exercises by 4-6 weeks, but just listen to my body if its too much stop. I am having overs and he said this would be better if I do a lot of upper body exercises regularly and also do weight training. Better to confirm with your PS hun and like mia said a little further reading and researching will help.

Best of luck hun, keep us updated xxxx

Yes i saw a picture of a girl whose implants were so far apart because she had done alot of upper body workout quite soon after her op before the pockets had healed and she had to have a revision as the pockets had healed around the implants while she was flexing constantly. Are you having unders or overs, i would go for overs if you can, if you're into upper body workouts/boxing

This might be a stupid question, but are your stomach muscles/doing sit-ups known as an upper or lower body workout?
Just as i'm desperate to start doing some stomach crunches etc asap...but after hearing the story of the girl having to have a revision i'm now a bit scared.

I think she used to lift heavy weights, so basically alot of pec workouts. Im sure alot of girls do upper body workouts with unders and dont have a problem, but i have heard of them becoming further apart like carl's ps said in that case. Im sure if you wait until you're ps gives you the all clear you'll be fine

I shadow box as part of circuit training and Ive been fine however I did wait a couple of months and I had overs. I just ran and did spinning at first instead .
It does make sense about the too much pecs training pushing the implants further apart but, as women its not that easy to build upper body muscle mass - to do this I would imagine you would have to train alot!

I did spinning at 3 weeks and had first gentle run at 4 weeks . I used my heart rate monitor and didnt go over 75% MHR and after a couple of weeks I was back to my 4x week full on stuff. Just listen to your bod and be sensible. I would've gone bonkers waiting 6 weeks.

Thank you for all your replies, so do you think he meant just in the "recovery period" or forever more?

I don't really want to give it up but if it's means that I'll have to give up on the boobies.....I'll give the boxing up!!! :)

I only do the training at the mo no sparing (not sure I would like to get hit, although I wouldn't want to rule it out)

But I do lots of pad and bag work, I have quite muscly shoulders (which I hate) and seem to find it easy to build muscle around that area, I don't lift weights or anything just seem to be that way!

I think I will def mention it to the PS that I'm going to see Monday.(different company then before) I think your right about possibly having overs......I don't have any cleavage either (they are quite far apart) do you think having overs would help with that to?

Thanks for your advice girls, it's really helpful.....I have no idea what would have happened if I hadn't found this site!!!

I think overs would help with cleavage as its harder to push unders together. My PS told me to do chest exercises in moderation (no bench pressing) and not to overdo anything and that was at the 6 week mark.

As for running I still have to avoid it for a couple of more weeks so I'm just doing long fast walks xx

Hi girls,

Went to see another surgeon today and mentioned what the previous PS had said about the boxing training.

He said that he has never heard of it happening and that it would be incredibly difficult for that to happen as once you are fully recovered the scar tissue will have formed around it and hold it in place! It might flex for a quarter of a second when the muscle contracts or it may even make a popping sound but this was nothing to worry about.

He basically said that after the recovery period "you can do everything you could do before!". Cheerleader Cheerleader Cheerleader Cheerleader

Panic over I can have it both ways great boobs and whatever training I want!!!!
