Re: June Buddies
ooh g, i have my last pre op appointment a day after yours, next wednsday!! been keeping a list with questions lol, ones for nurse, ones for surgeon, and ones for pcc!
still think there will be loads i'll forget to ask!
honestly the macom to me looks like normal bra! it has a really wide band for good support, but it even has a little bow in front :) and nothing like as horrible as it appears on the website pics! x
still glad i got it in black though as it looks almost elegant ina slightly shiny material, not grotty at all! x

Re: June Buddies
oh hun which m&s sports bra did you buy? i had a look in store last weekend but there were sooo many different ones i got all confused
also for the swelling, are we thinking i should go a band size up, or a cup size up, or both:?? i do have bra extenders so if i can avoid getting a bigger band, great!
does anyone know where the most swelling occurs, back or cups? x

Re: June Buddies
i think my nerves will start kicking in after my pre-op next week, when everything is settled and all questions answered. and then i still need to pay the majority of the money, only got the deposit down so far.. that for me is the scariest bit!!
i'll have a look at the m&s bras but still way too confused as to what i'll need.. will ask surgeon next week what he thinks i might need to allow for swelling etc.
oh and my pcc (patient care coordinator) does all the admin stuff and schedules my appointments etc x

Ah g, just seen your 25 days, how bloomin exciting!!! Really isn't long now! Really excited for you!! I have my final appt with my PS on Monday, gonna get every question written down tomorrow, especially on the vitamins and creams, what size to anticipate etc. I'm the same as Blue in that M&S had so many options I came out confused so I've held off buying bras for now. I have no idea whether swelling will mean I will stay the same size or not, as ultimately I should really go down a cup so taking into account swelling I should stay my current cup?? Not sure, confusing!!!! Oh so exciting all the same!!! :-) xx

I think the prep will make everything so real! I'm so nervous about the day but just keep reminding myself of all the times i felt horrible about my body, couldn't get nice bras and felt self-concious... keeping me going:)
Yeah id check with ur surgeon hun I'm sure he/she can guide you as to what you will need. I am loving my V pillow already.. trying to get used to sleeping on my back as i have slept on my tummy almost every night for the past 10 years!! haha :)

Everytime i look at the timer i get excited!! really hoping it flies in :) That sounds like a good plan, even have a flick through the different forums on here just to make sure u have everything covered. I plan to ask about the sedative, plans if i have my period on surgery day (which i think is highly likely), vitamins, what size of bra for post op... ill make my list later and pass it onto you just so we are sure we have everything covered! :)
So excited for the June girls :) xxx

Re: June Buddies
this is my list so far:
Nurse
- Scar dressings: will I be given enough dressings, when and how should they be changed
- pre-op preparation: medication I can’t take, alcohol, vitamin supplements, certain foods?
- Should I be taking Arnica tablets
- what time is discharge time on the day after the op
Surgeon
- should I / is it necessary to stop taking the pill pre-op
- what to do about my helix piercing, do I have to take it out and can I use a plastic retainer, or
can it be left in?
- post-op check up appointments: when and how often, pcc said 6-12 weeks (which do you prefer?), then 6 months and 12 months. okay or any other?
- post-op bras: I have a macom, but which back and cup size for any other sports bra?
- post-op recovery in terms of wearing sports bras and band: how long, 24h, etc?
- in case of questions or worries post-op, what is the process for contacting the clinic or surgeon?
- Size & style of implant:
- no side boob, worried about looking fatter, want to keep the slim upper body look
- can I choose an implant size with a width smaller than my BWD
- would rather be slightly smaller than slightly bigger than anticipated
- would really not want to be bigger than a standard C cup
- want them to look natural and in proportion to my body, being able to leave them be at work etc but being able to dress them up and create a cleavage when I want to as well
- are all natrelle implants 100% filled or is there a difference between responsive and soft touch?
- asymmetry: is it significant enough to use two different sized implants?
- are my breasts at a different height and will this even out post op?
- is there any way to influence what time my op will be on the day?
- to allow for the swelling in the sports bras, should I go a band size up, or a cup size up, or both? I do have bra extenders so if I can avoid getting a bigger band, great!
Where does the most swelling occurs, back or cups?
PCC
- post-op appointments: when can I get them booked in/ how far in advance are the dates published?
- do I need to book the 1 week post op check with the nurse, can we get it booked in now?
- if I have any questions or worries post op, can I contact the surgeon, do I go through you, what is the process and how fast is the response time?
- what time is discharge time on the day after the op

Re: June Buddies
Awesome idea on sharing questions g! Thanks!! The forum has been brilliant, have been reading like crazy! :-) and cheers for reminding me about possible period days, forgot about that! Blue, am pretty much going to plagiarise your list but adapt for my uplift! The other thing I would add is what dosage of Arnica as I was going to buy them in Boots the other day then realised they come in different dosages? The other thing that I'm going to clarify, and this is relation to my particular surgeon's experience rather than lead up prep, (which I should have asked before) is his nipple loss ratio. I love stats and as much as I know there will never be an absolute guarantee I need to know how often it's happened under his care!! I've been told I will (should) be able to breast feed as he will not be severing the ducts but I just really need to know how often it's actually happened in his own experience, it is after all down to his surgery skills!
I know what you mean g also about the nerves, I've at times thought I must be mad opting to willingly go under a surgeon's knife when I'm in good health. But then I remember the image of myself and then how many stories of girls who all wished they had done it sooner and how pleased they are with how the op went, it will be so worth it!!! This time next month you'll be all done and owner of fab new boobs!!! :-) xx
Will also post my answers, will be Mon night when I get back from seeing the PS! Xx

Morning girls, that would be great if you posted your answers :)
blue I think I'm going to ask the anesthetist on the day if I can have the anti sickness whilst under- my sister didn't and felt sick throughout the night so the nurse gave it to her by an injection on her bum. She said it was the worst thing out of everything! I think also it will just give peace of mind and something not to worry about after you've come out of surgery.

GA but as you say im just trying to focus on the outcome :) this time next month ill be on the mend hopefully!
Hangle - my sis also had the injection in her bum because she was unwell after but she said at that point in time she didnt care! (Coming from someone who has a phobia of needles!!) lol another girl i spoke to said they put her sickness meds in her cannula because she still had it in!:)) xx

Re: June Buddies
Evening ladies, ok now sat down with a cuppa, so here goes, but worth highlighting I'm an uplift only, and it really does look like every surgeon has a different view for each of their respective patient...
1) Arnica - he doesn't think it makes a diff (my previous note was from the first surgeon I was going to book with, who said to take it) but he is of the opinion it's not necessary. (I may just take it anyway).
2) Vitamins - it does help, but he thinks I'm in good health anyway, so not essential but helpful if I want to take them. (so I will!)
3) Bio Oil - to be used once the skin has healed, so around 6 week post op. No need to use before.
4) Palmers Cream pre op - he doesn't think it makes a diff, if I want to continue it as part of my daily routine then fine, he has no objections but it's not a requirement (I'm gonna anyway!)
5) Bra size, what to expect - the technique he uses will mean my boobs will be really tight and high to start, so much so I won't need a bra at all for the first two weeks. Post Op I should wear just a crop top, boob tube, or loose top. On discharge, I should just wear a loose front fasten blouse. This is odd to me as I have had to wear bra all my adult life and can't imagine not wearing one! I just don't believe my boobs can possibly be ok bra less! I spoke to the surgery coordinator (a prev patient of his) and she said that's exactly what it was like for her, they were so tight on uplift, no one could believe she wasn't wearing a bra!! He recommended I go bra shopping once the swelling has gone down (about 2 wks) as he can't guarantee which cup I'll be (especially as he's said he may take 25cc or 50cc off my left to balance out but he won't decide until I'm in surgery). In the meantime, have lots of front fasten tops ready.
6) Assistance over the first 48 hours - he thinks I should be fine on my own, as long as I'm home just mooching, no activites, no lifting, no exertion, he thinks I'll be ok. I have provisionally booked an extra night stay in case the GA makes me ill and I shouldn't be on my own.
7) Nipple loss ratio - he's never lost one! phew! assured me again that ducts are going to stay intact. (yay!) :-)
8) No alcohol 3 days before, no aspirin 2 weeks before.
9) Nails need to be varnish free.
10) Operation slot time - he's moved me to an afternoon slot so I can have a lay in!! So worth asking! :-)
11) No full shower for first week, just wet wipes! (eeew!)
12) I didn't ask about taking the pill ladies as I've come off it entirely.
13) No swimming for first 6 wks, no gym for 4-6 wks, no flying for 4 wks.
14) First Post Op appt will be 10 days post op, which they will book in on departure.
I think it's defo a case of your surgeon knows you and your operation best so best to follow their advice and make your own call where permitted! Hope all your appts goes well girls, and look forward to seeing what answers you get back too! I'm just so excited now, I asked them to take me around the bedrooms too so it was great to see where I'll be on the day....I can't wait, if it wasn't for work I would have had it this month, damn work schedule getting in the way! :-) xx
