pre op confusion
Just had my pre op and the nurse didn't go through my form or medical history, took routine bloods and mrsa swabs and sent me on my way. No weight or height or bp or ecg. I asked why not and she simply said because I am far too young to need them. Now that's all well and good that I am young but I actually do have quite a few physical health problems. :/ xxx

Re: pre op confusion
Try not to worry too much, I panicked a bit when they didn't do anything but take my blood at my pre op and ask a few stupid questions lol! But on the day my anaesthetist asked loads of questions, and my weight and height were measured, and bp taken. They will make sure you are in good health before they proceed, and if at any point you are worried that you don't think they have asked certain questions you can always ask them why they havnt felt the need to ask! Re: pre op confusion
If you have health problems that you feel may compromise your surgery in any way babe then you should get it sorted out NOW!
Your nurse was so wrong to dismiss you in such a way. There are young ladies everywhere that deal with medical conditions that may not present themselves physically and as such the nurse should have took the time to question you ensuring 'your' health problems were covered in the blood tests she took and she should have done your blood pressure as standard and asked your height and weight as these things should be written in your notes.
The very last thing you'd want cupcake is to arrive on the day and for the anaesthetist to have to send you away due to possible concerns that have not been checked out.
So I'd call the clinic lovely. Tell them which medical conditions you have and ask if the tests done will cover the conditions.
Very poor work there from the clinic nurse. Whatever your age, she should take time to ensure EVERYTHING is covered. This is major surgery and you want to know you're well enough not only to have the surgery but also if any condition you have is looming somewhere and could possibly hinder your healing and cause further discomfort for you babe. Re: pre op confusion
I agree with cookie, medical history should have been mentioned as its a major factor regards surgery. And possibly have bloods taken.
I never had bloods taken and I was weighed, height and bp on my admission.
But if you've had medical complications then I would make them aware now. So they are prepared for any eventuality x
