Cupsize confusion
We tend to hear a lot from women saying they 'look' smaller than they measure.
This is impossible. If you fill a cup size - you measure it and therefore look it too. it's impossible not to!
What confuses many people is the fact that the larger your band size is, the more volume it takes to fill a cup. A D cup is one band width size is not at all the same in another. The breast volume will either be bigger or smaller and the reason why your band width is so important to gain your true sizing as well as you gaining all the support for your breasts from here.
A woman wearing a 36B has just the same 'breast volume' as a woman wearing a 30DD
Sounds so small on the larger frame doesn't it... Its the same sized breast though! The breast size just 'looks' smaller on a larger frame.
Many of us won't have even heard of larger bust sizes on small backed women, so to compare, we think of a D cup onwards on a fuller woman, then when we come to have our BA, in comparison our small backed D cup onwards seems tiddly!
The other thing is that celebs don't generally report going larger than a DD for some reason so our minds have been programmed into believing that the big boobs celebs have on a smaller frame are a lot smaller than they measure in reality.
It's all about how we actually perceive a cup size rather than what a cup size actually means when teamed with bandwidth.
So do your research BEFORE having surgery girls to avoid possible disappointment.
Maybe go and get fitted before your surgery to find out your true size. Chances are you'll be very shocked by that too, coming up with a much larger cup size than you thought you were to begin with. Then once you have your fitted back size, maybe then try on the cup size you'd like to go to in that back size, it may not be as large as you'd like to go, considering you might actually be starting off in a C cup already! Xx

Re: Cupsize confusion
That's so true cookie I remember a girl on here getting fitted for a bra pre ba she was wearing a 34a and she said she had very little breast so she was so shocked when she got fitted into a 28D and I remember her saying there was no way she was a d, but the bra fitted perfectly.
I also remember my first fitting which was post ba cause I was too embarrassed to get a proper fitting pre ba. I looked at my new boobs and thought they looked small. I used an online calculator which told me I was a 38B or a 36C and I was really disappointed because I was told I'd be a dd or e. I was wearing a 34dd sports bra lol I just thought it was wrong. So going into Bravissimo I was really scared they would tell me they didn't have any bras small enough for me? But in I went. For my fitting I wore my 36D sports bra as it was comfy and as I was only 4 weeks post op I tended to get uncomfy and swollen as the day went on so I wore it for comfort. Immediately the fitter seen that my bra was the wrong size and we tried a few on eventually fitting me into a 32f, which sounded huge to me, but it fitted perfectly. I only tried on soft cup bras so when I went to the shop to get a Underwire bra with a formed cup I took one look at the 32f's and thought they looked far too big and took a 32dd into the changing room to try on and it didn't fit at all my boobs we're falling out. The 32f fitted perfect. I just couldn't get my head around the sizes it just didn't make sense to me. My boobs didn't look an f cup they were much smaller than what I thought an f cup was. Bra sized can be so confusing it's a something you have to re learn, everything I thought I knew about bra sizes was wrong. It took me a while to get my head around it, but now I understand so much more. You basically have to try to forget everything you thought you knew and learn again. As cookie said the media is terrible at telling you the correct size, portraying everyone with a big bust as a D or DD unless it's a glamour model or porn star then they tend to be portrayed as F's when they're much much bigger and they're usually tiny women with size 6 or 8 figures. They tell us they're a 36f. I'm sorry but I'm a size 10 on top and I'm in a 32 band (sometimes 30) and a 36 is hanging off me. I will admit when I first put a 32 band on it felt tight but it was only because it was supporting me boobs and fitted properly, before that my 34s were like a baggy t shirt no support and was just baggy.

Re: Cupsize confusion
It can be confusing!
I got fitted today at a specialist lingerie shop in my local town, she looked at the (horribly uncomfy) bra I was wearing and told me it didn't fit!!
It turns out i am a 40D and I brought 2 bras which seem to be more comfy.
I think I was a bit sad because 1- the sound of being a 40 band makes me feel giant ( I think because I'm tall I get away with it!?) and 2- a D doesn't sound that big!
But your right ladies...if you think about it my 40D would be the equivalent to a much bigger cup size on a small back lady! (I have more area to cover in the first place..so the cups have to have more volume!) ;-)

Re: Cupsize confusion
Very interesting! I'm still a bit confused though, my band width measures 29.5 so I'm supposed to be wearing a 30" but there is no way I could wear a 30 and it not feel like I can't breathe, even a 32 is really tight but I'm definitely 29.9 around my rib cage - so what size should I be wearing???!!!

Re: Cupsize confusion
I'm the same jogo, 29 under bust. I'm told I should wear a 30 but I'm more comfortable in the 32 because I don't feel I can breathe in the 30. Fitters say its fine though.
If its so tight it's uncomfortable jogo, wear the 32. As long as you can slip 2 fingers underneath its fine. Xx

Re: Cupsize confusion
I think I should go and get myself measured. I only measure 26.5 so this should mean I wear a 28? But I wear a 30 and I think a 28 would be too tight! Xx
