bra confusion and pain
im getting confused about the fittings of bras now,
i got measured at bravissimo at 30/32 ff i had been wearing 34dd,
they felt quite tight but she said it should be as its support for my boobies and i had been wearing ones that gave me no support cause they were lose around the middle but fitted the cup,
but now they are really hurting me now, they dig into the middle part where the wire meets together between my boobs, they are making quite a dent and i end up undoing the back in the evening to get some relief,
my middle bit is still quite rasied compaired to my chest bone bellow my boobs and above them,
my surgon said its because i had a large implant as well as going outwards they went sidewards so meet in the middle now, where as i had a gap before,
im sure not what else to do, i cant wear balconett bras they really hurt as wire goes up really high in the middle, i can bear plunge just about,
help!!

Re: bra confusion and pain
if you were fitted for those bras, then take them back if they are uncomfortable and say you were fitted for them but they hurt you. I think Bravissimo will exchange them.
Not all bras will suit your frame even if officially they are the right size. I get the same problem with a lot of bras as i have quite a bony chest, so i have to try on every bra to make sure it doesnt dig in, then i wear it round the house later for half an hour or an hour with the tags still on to make sure it still feels good.
Even with the tags taken off though, if you were actually properly fitted for it then it should be comfortable. You might just need a different style

Re: bra confusion and pain
i think most bras would do it cause of the underwire,
maybe the shape of my boobies is a bit unusual,
my middle bit between my boobs is quite raised above my chestbone then sinks down to my ribcage,
really hard to discribe

its worth a try though to see if you can get one that doesnt hurt. What type of bra did you wear before your BA?

Re: bra confusion and pain
I got measured at a few places a while ago as a 32C I could never wear a 32 back as it feels way too tight and restrictive for me and leaves marks so I just wore a 34b, now I will have to get measured I suppose but I can't see a 32 back size suddenly becoming comfortable for me after all these years even though thats what I know they will measure me at. I think that the band should give you the majority of support and if its loose it is no good for you so aslong as it isn't loose then just go with whats comfortable for you.
If you have been measured for the bras take them back and ask to exchange them I agree with Abbie just because they say that size on the label doesn't mean they will be the perfect fit for you. :)

Re: bra confusion and pain
If the wires hurt you why don't you try some of the preformed non wire bras for everyday. I had a couple of nice pretty ones in them when I was pregnant as I didn't like the maternity bras and they gave me enough support and a nice shape. Thinking about it now I might get some of them for everyday when I get rid of these horrible sprots bras. :)

Did your surgeon warn you about the possible raising of the skin between your breasts due to the large implant size pre-op hun?
I was warned pre-op by my surgeon that I may have a raising of the skin between the breasts and that it should settle by six months post-op. Like you I had a difficult time wearing bras and found them very uncomfortable, but it did settle, although mine hasn't completely gone just yet, but nothing I'm concerned about.
If I were you hunni, I think this is something you should be discussing further with your surgeon, he should be monitoring this hun to ensure it settles. xxx

Re: bra confusion and pain
thanks girls,
cookie i was never given any warning about it, just thought i was odd as i havent heard anyone else say the same thing,
so glad you two understand i was getting very paranoid, hopefully as you say its something that will settle in time then, cause it really hurts and i worry what harm it may be doing, the indents are quite bad,
i never thought about taking the underwire out i may give that a go
my check up insisnt until oct he put me on a 3 month check up after my 6wk one,
i cant find any non wired ones in my size, i tried m&s and they only do sports bras in my size with out wire,

I'd give your clinic a call to discuss how uncomfortable you are sweetie and maybe have your appointment brought forward for your surgeon to take a look at you. You have quite a large implant babe and do need the support you get from wearing a bra - your surgeon really should be aware of the problems you're having hunni IMO. xxx
Re: bra confusion and pain
ok i will try and bring it forward, theres nothing he could do though is there?
why is that bit so rasied? what is underneath it to make it that high?

Re: bra confusion and pain
'IF' your surgeon feels this is a problem that needs adressing then it can be fixed hunni. As the skin remained raised from the sternum after the swelling has settled. your surgeon should be made aware of that and monitor it if felt necessary babe. xx

Re: bra confusion and pain
Hey hun. If you think that you have symmastia then you really do need to talk to your surgeon and get a diagnosis if this is the case. I know the thought of a further surgery is not great but if there is a problem and it's making you unhappy, then a re-op is the best way to solve this.
and good luck sorting things out.

Re: bra confusion and pain
Hi,
I have this problem and I am over a year post op! I have a drawer full of bras that I can't wear as they dig into me.
I've been measured as a 30FF and I find 32E's the best fit for me.
I'd try on a few different sizes and styles and do what Abbey said about wearing them round the house first.
Good luck with sorting things out with your surgeon.

Re: bra confusion and pain
i was worried when i first googled it, i saw some pictures and thought omg mine arnt that bad, then there was some and i thought they are just like mine,
the middle is raised so much (sternum) the underwire digs in badly and hurts, if it was flat they would fit lovely,
i will try some different sizes to see if thats helps

Re: bra confusion and pain
Hi hun, as I was reading this i thought what you described sounded like symmastia but it doesn't look like it in your profile pic hun. If you are worried then go and see your surgeon and see what he says. It may be that you need to just keep wearing a sports bra for a while longer to let them settle a bit more. If you are still not convinced then maybe go for a second opinion.
If you loved them before ou started googling you should still love them now they have not changed!

Re: bra confusion and pain
I have a similar problem with some bras BB xx And I certainly can't wear balconette bras xx Some dig in a lot and some just a little but usually towards the end of the night I am ready to take it off xx I would do what Nat says and remove the underwire for comfort xx I know for work and everyday I don't wear underwire as they just not comfy for 10 to 12 hours xx I wear sports or M&S support bras xx
I went through a stage of thinking I had symastia (SP) because when i wear my sports bra it pushes my implants together in order to hold them in place and the skin in the middle raises up and is soft and squidgy xx But with no bra on it goes away xx
I'm going back to my PS end of the month and will ask him about it and let you know xx But if I were you I would go back and see your PS and talk to him about it hun xx
Don't get down about it though hun, we are all here for you xx Don't leave it over a year like I have, If you not happy the sooner you go back the sooner you will know what you are looking at xx
Thinking of you gorgeous xx
PS I've always thought you're avatars look great xx

Re: bra confusion and pain
thanks for your help girls. i cant see my ps until oct as he is busy and works away alot,
you cant see it in my avatar picture, but when i sit here now and i look down you can see a bit dip, i can also press it down so it goes flat and i can feel the pressure of the implants agaisnt it, but it pops straight back up after,
ive sorted some bras where the underwire stops just before it starts to raise up so it doesnt hurt,
im trying very hard not to let it bother me, but the more i see normal boobs the more sad i get,
it may just go one day and settle down,
