Arnica? Confused!! Empty Arnica? Confused!!

Post by NikkiJaneW 19th November 2012, 2:43 pm

Hi all,

Was just reading through my pre-op booklet and it says to stop taking all supplements and herbal remedies 2 weeks prior to the surgery. I can understand the asprin/cold remedy stuff coz of thinning of the blood but hearing so many of the girls on here taking arnica makes me feel like i should be taking it too, it's gotta help surely??

hey hun the meds you need to avoid are stuff like aspirin, neurofen, voltorol and the herbal remedies you can't take are st johns wart, ginkgo n vitamin e because these increase the risk of bleeding in surgery. xx

just realised I haven't fully answered your question! In terms of arnica, some surgeons recomend it and some are very against it. It's best to just do whatever the surgeon recomends hun so if he hasn't mentioned it I wouldn't worry too much about taking it xx

Feeling absolutely fine. Just want to be on the other side :) Nerves will kick in when I'm being scribbled on in pen I'm sure!

Hi Hun, I took arnica they say it helps with bruising but I still bruised quite bad on my right side, would it have been worse without arnica? I can't say but if your surgeon didn't mention it to you then I really wouldn't worry about it xx
