Going on holiday after BA?
Does anyone know the sensible/required time to wait before going abroad after a BA.
I'm on a pretty tight time frame of when I can have my BA done due to the time I'll need off work, and basically the aim is to have them done around the 20th March next year. But my boyfriend incontinently booked a holiday to Barbados on the 27th April. I'm guessing flying isn't a problem due the fact people have BA's done abroad and fly home all the time, but I don't want to be laying on the beach with a sport bra on, or can I even sunbathe that soon?
Has anyone have any experience of going abroad in that sort of time frame?
Sorry I've I sound a bit of a newb.
Much love. x

Re: Going on holiday after BA?
Due to the high risk of deep vein thrombosis after surgery, the advice given by the department of health is not to fly long haul ffor at least 12 weeks after surgery, which is what flying to Barbados is.

Thanks guy, although I just realised I put 'incontinently' instead of 'inconveniently', ha awkward.
But seriously a little part of me has died, I've been getting my hopes so high for March, I was thinking 6 weeks in between would be enough, but I guess even then I'm cutting it fine. I just don't want to go on another holiday and get in a bikini with no boobs any more, it gets me so down.
I'm going to see my (hopefully the one) surgeon in Nov so I guess I'll have to find out then. Sob

Awkward sweetness, if you have to put it off your holiday for a year, because timing isn't right, then it's all for a good cause isn't it, knowing your next holiday will in a bikini with gorgeous boobs to fill it! Xx

I wish I could, but I can't rearrange the holiday, he has already gone and booked and paid for it. I'll have to fill my bikini with coconuts.

Hahahaha.
Seriously though. If your surgeon insists on you following the department of healths advice, you're in a bit of a quandary if the only window you have open to do both is within the dates you say. It could mean you having to choose couldn't it hun....boobs or holiday?

Re: Going on holiday after BA?
For a fee, I'm sure you can change your holiday date. You have pay the admin fees for the travel agent but it possible. I've done this in the past myself. Xx
Re: Going on holiday after BA?
You won't be able to sunbathe, take sports bra off or fly long haul hun so as Cookie said, I would postpone the holiday x

Re: Going on holiday after BA?
I've tried, holiday is non-budagble!
I think I'm going to try and get them done in Feburary instead, I just need to convince my manager to let me have a couple of day off extra....and hope that I have enough money saved by then!
Thanks for your replies though guys

Re: Going on holiday after BA?
That's probably for the best lovely
It gives you plenty of time to do your research before booking anyway hun. February really isn't that faraway so if you're wanting specific dates I'd start looking for your surgeon now babe as we're starting to see members just coming through now with February dates and they do get booked up.
I believe in fate and everything happening for a reason Suzi, so you having your BA later than you wanted was meant to be and you new boobs will all the better for your wait.
Spend a some time researching, have a few consultations and then if you're happy to go ahead after checking qualifications and you're happy with the after care get yourself booked hun.
We're here should you need us. Xx
