Ok more questions...LOL As my op moves closer I am starting to think of all the things I might have trouble with after the surgery. I want to be able to wash my face everyday ( at least) if I can't wash my hair. But what about raising arms to put hair up and wash hair etc? My hair is going to look like Crap if I can't wash it and I want to be able to keep it up in a bun. Grrrrrrrrrr growl

Lol I too tried to learn my bf how to put my hair in a ponytail and all I can say is... Aw bless
The thing is if you can't do if then don't force it as it's just not worth pulling a stitch for, definitely get help washing your hair if you need it but maybe just accept for the first few days you're gonna look... Natural! But you're not gonna want to do much anyway :) don't worry hun you'll be to preoccupied by your new boobs anyway I was!

I was able to lift my arms from day 1, I managed to get my hair up while in the hospital and then had my Mum wash and dry it the second day. After that I coped fine by myself but don't be afraid to ask somebody for help, or book in at a salon for just a wash and blow dry! Messy topknotts are actually in right now, so you can probably get away with a very shady effort of sticking it up and leaving it haha.

Aww I'm really worried about this too haha, I have extensions so I'm clearly going to look like Bob Marley next week!! I'm booked into the salon though so hopefully they will make me feel better and look less of a greasy homeless lady.

Are you excited? X

I have very long hair and it was all over my face the whole time (very irritating!!!) The best solution was to braid my hair (one on each side like pippi longstockings). Avoid buns because you won't be able to lie down comfortably with a "ball" under your neck (remember that you will be sitting on your back most of the time).
I suggest that you read this thread [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Good luck with your surgery!!!

Quite frankly sweetheart, for the first week you're not going to be bothered what you look like lol. You will want to feel clean though and you'll have no problem at all having a flannel wash, you can also sit in a shallow bath so your boobs don't get wet, but you can have a more thorough wash.

Washing hair - some women find they're able to do it themselves after about 3 days post op onwards, others like myself need help, I just got my daughter to wash my hair whilst I held onto my boobs and hung my head over the bath and others decide to make an appointment at the hairdressers for about 1 week post op and have them do it.

In regard to doing your hair, your arms will be very weak and raising them 'above your head' will be sore, but brushing your hair is fine, but think simplicity and make things easy for yourself during the first week at least. A simple low pony tail or a side plait will be tidy and comfortable for you lovely, but in all truthfulness, you'll find your own way to help yourself, we all do the same stuff but tweak them to suit ourselves lovely. Xx

LOL Alice it was so funny he was like ermm hmmmm hang on ahh ok done! and he just twisted the bobble round a couple of times at the bottom of my head lol it was useless!
I can lift my arms up fine as well but Im worried in case its just cause I cant feel the pain so im trying not to.
Yesterday I ended up plaitting my hair like pipi longstockings as well haha especially with my actual stockings on, very swish. I looked about 14.
When we went to costa on the way home everyone was looking at me, they were probs wondering where i'd escaped from cos my stockings were on show as well as my bandage thing on my hand, wristband, hair everywhere and pale face lol. My eyes were almost closed as well sooo tired. Oh well I dont care I got a latte and an egg and mushroom toasted muffin mmmm

That is funny Alice! LOL my bf will probably have no clue either as he will be the one to take care of me. I've read some websites where some surgeons say it is perfectly fine to raise your arms after surgery and some actually reccomend it! I guess it just depends on the Doctor. So were you able to raise your arms enough to put your hair up? I thought about leaning forward and putting it up that way?

I was more than capable if I took my time yes my arms would get tired though. For drying it I would rest the hair dryer on my knee and angle the blower where I needed it to go, then use my arms to brush it.

You will find your own way around things, and may need help at the early stages but slowly and surely you'll manage. X

You're going to be fine hun! Flannel washing your face, body, underarms, your *cough* downstairs, will all be very within your capabilities, a shallow bath, or a shower held away from your new boobs you'll be able to do all on your hun with no problem, just as soon as you feel able to get up to do it.

My first BA, I was up about straight away. My second, I was stuck in bed for 2 or 3 days before I felt able to get up, but still kept clean with face wipes, deodorant wipes and my cleanser, toner moisturiser.

You WILL be restricted in lifting your arms hun, but having a BA won't totally disable you lovely, you're gonna be just fine and you'll soon find your own way to suit yourself. Washing hair and raising arms 321562 xxx

Yea I would do that. Last minut I shoved mine in pigtails like a little girl lol but at least it was out of the way. Honestly you've nothing to worry about, I was up and about like normal in no time and have managed to wash my hair every 2nd day as usual, and I've showered on my bottom half and washed my face and under arms at the sink xx
