raising arms above your head
Hi ladies
so I am one week post op and feeling good. Pain wise Ok except in the night and dreaded morning boob. Strength wise I am not there yet the though, if I stretch arms out to side it aches a bit/pulls a bit, I had been hoping to drive myself to one week check up today but Defo nowhere near ready to drive.
All went well Today check up if brief! Dressing off scars and they look good. I forgot to ask my surgeon a couple of things....One being being when am I Ok to start lifting my arms above my head, is there a certain time period for muscles to attach to implant, or is it just a case now of when I feel Ok to?
Xx

The nurse at my one week check said no stretching arms above the head for 6 weeks. The guidance were given tends to differ though so would be interested to see what others have been told xx

Aww thanks, I love them and recovering nicely. I drove for the 1st time 6 days post op, it was uncomfortable particularly putting the gears into reverse and 5th but I managed it and within a couple of days I was fine.
Can't wait to see the new avi, get those bikinis out

Re: raising arms above your head
What I have discovered is that the range of advice given out by surgeons is huge!
My PS has a more relaxed approach than others.
Simply put, he has said if it hurts don't do it, if it doesn't hurt then it is fine to do it, within reason.
I am fourteen days post op, I was driving short distances by day 4, and back to normal everyday chores etc by one week.
However I would only have done these things if I was feeling well, with no pain etc.
You must listen to your own body, if you unsure don't do it until you see your PS.

same as above. i was just told to gently push my arms a bit further without overdoing it. i was drivig by 10 days but found 5th gear really hard to get into x
Re: raising arms above your head
This is the general advise hun. Just be sure as Jo said not to 'stretch' at all, but if you feel OK to raiser your arms then that's fine. Mine said that you should be able to use your arms normally within your comfort zone, I have never been told not to put my arms above my head x

Re: raising arms above your head
Sounds just like my recovery . Arms ached after opening a window , and lacked any stamina. I never hoovered for 6 weeks either( on advice ) but did some stupid things like chaining my dog up of an evening(who's huge) etc and certainly felt it.. So take it easy x
