sleeping on your tummy - how long did it take? Empty sleeping on your tummy - how long did it take?

Post by Alex-C 15th May 2012, 7:42 am

Im curious as to how long it took you to comfortably sleep on your tummy? Im not planning on rushing into it, not without my ps's go ahead.

Lately I've been waking up while laying on my belly, i have mentioned it before but Im worried, I may be (unconsciously) doing it too early and Im afraid Im doing more harm than good.

Also my right rib (directly under the incision) has been hurting A LOT, almost feels like I should be badly bruised but there's nothing there except a small red dot? Any ideas?

Hi Alex. With my 1st ba it was many months before I slept on my tummy because I was really scared in case i damaged them ! I dont think it does any harm but maybe its wise to leave it a while.I am only 4 weeks post op so wont be trying it for a good few months yet ! I can only say what I did maybe you should ask Cookie or one of the other mods just to be on the safe side. I was saying on a different post ,who would have guessed having a boob job would throw up so many different questions ?? x

Hey Alex,

I keep finding myself wanting to sleep on my front. I sleep on both sides a lot and wake up everymorning with soreness, like you describe, a bruised feeling under by breasts, almoast at the incision sites. I dont really know what this is eitehr, ive just put it down to skin stretching with the implant with a bit of morning boob.

Sorry I cant help with this but I really cant wait till I sleep on my front again! xxx

I was about 4 months post-op before I was able to sleep on my front again, but hey we're all different and we'll all be ready at different times.

If you feel comfortable and there's no pain or aching after sleeping on your front you should be fine. If you want to just help take the pressure off your boobs whilst laying on your front try using you V pillow, so your head is on the pillow but your boobs fall through the gap. That way you're not actually adding your full body weight to the breast but still getting your sleep from laying on your front.

The general rule is to LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. Take your time, don't rush, be sensible and be guided by your swelling also, because if you're still swollen laying propped is the best way to help that. xx

I'm a year on and still don't sleep on my front. Feels like I'm laying on something!! (Spose I am!). Only really a problem for me when I sunbathe.

Hey I'm back to sleeping on my tummy and just use a pillow to cushion my boobs a little. My ps says this is fine to do (I'm only four weeks post op) and that by squishing the implants a bit it will help to avoid capsular contraction. Result! Xx

Not comfortable at all, it's not so bad the further along you are. But even now my boobs get in the way.
