is there anything else similar to this that you shouldn't have during surgery? I'm thinking of all sorts now haha contact lenses, make-up?
No nail varnish, make-up, piercings or jewellery, if you have a particular piercing that might cause problems taking it out, or maybe a ring that wont come off, you could always call the clinic and ask if the piercing can be taped before surgery, it's always best to find out any concerns you have pre-op to save the disappointment of being sent home on your surgery day...
Oh and one more thing, if you have your surgery during or on the day of your period you cannot use a tampon, you must use a sanitary towel.
Re: Acrylic Nails.
Each surgeon & hospital have different polices. As my acrylics were white tip & the main part clear i could leave them on. Phone & ask x

No contacts, No makeup or tan(need to see natural skin tone), no jewellery, no piercings(as the cautery they use is like a little electric current so could travel to piercing and burn you), no acrylics in most places, no nail varnish on fingers and toes(again to check bloodflow), no hair bobbles with metal bits on them, or metal hair clips/ hair beads, Dentures or bridges in teeth need to come out, they'll also need to know if you've ever had a shrapnel/bullet injury, and if you have an prothesises... Ha I basically just went through a pre-op checklist in my head there I do in work and typed it out!x

I wore makeup right until the last minute, and the morning after I got out of my little hospital bed and put my makeup on even though I was sore! I got my friend to french plait my hair preop and used a bobble without metal(you can get them in primark) and my hair stayed like that for a few days. I had CRAZY hair when I finally took it out! Like Monica from friends in humidity haha!x

Re: Acrylic Nails.
letfreedomsing, you don't have to have your implants through the crease - if you're worried about your tattoo you ought to discuss other incision sites.

Hi Alexis, basically you can have nothing LOL. You have to be naked as god sent you. Not even perfume and creams are allowed.

Re: Acrylic Nails.
I'm off for my pre-op shortly, so I'm going to ask the question. I've got gel on my nails, so really hope I don't have to take them off, only had them infilled yesterday!

Duh, I forgot to ask, but she put a clip on my finger when taking my blood pressure and didnt mention them, so I think I'll leave them on.

Both the Anesthetist & nurse today have said that my gel nails aren't an issue. Got a perfect oxygen reading through them.
